Dear President Molina,
On behalf of our organizations, we want to congratulate you and extend our wishes for a successful Presidency.
As global brands that contract with factories in your country and a multi-stakeholder organization to which global brands are affiliated, we want to reaffirm the importance of the respect for human and labor rights by our business partners in the countries where we operate.
An attractive business climate for companies like ours includes not only economic and political stability, but also an environment in which the basic rights of workers are respected and labor laws are consistently enforced. This is critical to us, our consumers, investors and other stakeholders.
We are supportive of your efforts to implement public policy that will further protect workers’ legal rights and preserve their right of freedom of association. While we monitor the factories we contract with to verify the protection of workers’ rights within our supply chains, we look to your government to support and enforce the rule of law so that businesses and workers can operate in a fair and safe environment.

We look to Guatemala’s Ministry of Labor, judicial system and police to safeguard and enforce your efforts in creating a positive business climate. In that vein, we hope that your
Administration will move swiftly to reach a resolution that is satisfactory to the parties involved in the pending 2008 CAFTA labor complaint. Doing so would mark a major step towards establishing Guatemala’s reputation as a country where socially-responsible companies may do business with confidence.
We look forward to the satisfactory resolution of this dispute and once again, we extend our appreciation for your commitment to human and labor rights in Guatemala.
Sincerely,
