Teacher Proves to Have the Right Chemistry By Megan Stevenson and Natasha Morrison Miss Claire McCormick has added a new element to the Chemistry Department of Forres Academy. After completing her probation year last year she looked around for a permanent job and when she saw the Forres post advertised she decided that was the one for her. Her dad lives in Forres so she already knew and liked the area. She was born and brought up in Ayrshire and completed her degree at Glasgow Caledonian University before completing her teaching qualification at Strathclyde. She hadn’t always wanted to be a teacher as she loves animals and was interested in becoming a vet. However, her love of Chemistry changed her mind and she found herself drawn to a teaching career. She loves teaching and finds it exciting: “There’s always something new every day. No two days are the same.” In her spare she loves watching films and enjoys playing her clarinet and saxophone. She has settled in well at Forres and has found everyone very friendly and welcoming.
