Corey, from Harvard in 1980. He started his academic career at the University of Kansas in 1979. He later moved to Purdue, and then finally to The Scripps Research Institute where he is the Richard and Alice Cramer Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Boger has won numerous awards Chemistry, and has been named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Boger’s research interests span from the development of new synthetic methods to the chemistry of antitumor antibiotics. His career over the past 3 decades has yielded 533 publications, 2 books and eight patents. His talk will focus on his studies with the total synthesis of glycopeptide antibiotics and their redesign to address the emerging problem of vancomycin resistance.
