Dengue Outpatient
Management
What is Dengue Fever?
Dengue Fever is a viral disease usually
accompanied by fever, headaches, bone, joint
or muscle pains and rashes.
Must I be hospitalised?
Most cases are mild and can be managed in
the outpatient setting with close monitoring.
What is Dengue Outpatient Management
(DOM)?
DOM clinic manages dengue patients who
meet a set of criteria safely without the need to
be admitted to hospital.
By attending DOM clinic daily, dengue
patients will:
• Receive daily blood checks similar to a
patient admitted to the hospital
• Receive advice on managing dengue from
registered nurses
• Receive daily updates of the full blood
count (FBC) result from registered nurses
• Have easy access to advice via phone
consultation
In the event that you require hospital
admission, your doctor or nurse will inform you
and make the necessary arrangements.
Otherwise, you can rest in the comfort of your
home.
