Rees Maxwell and his wife Matty led their own
summer nature camps in Eugene, mentoring
175 children, prior to Rees co-founding Whole
Earth Nature School. In 2007, Rees cofounded
Dancing Sol—Nature Education Program with
Matty Maxwell. He continues to teach a morning
preschool program there, bringing 3-5 year olds into
nature five days per week. (See http://DancingSol.com
for more details.) Rees is a graduate of Wilderness
Awareness School’s Anake Outdoor School program
and has taught in their Roots & Wings preschool
program as well as their summer camps.2 Locally, Rees
has taught children at Mt. Pisgah Arboretum and
Nearby Nature. For three years he taught wilderness
living skills to teens at the Network Charter School.
Rees's first professional experience teaching children
was at the age of 14, and he continues to love it!

Matt Bradley is experienced in a wide range of
wilderness survival skills, including training at
Tom Brown Jr’s Tracker School. He has worked
as a National Park Ranger. In 2005, Matt hiked
1,700 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, making
most of his equipment himself. In 2008 he co-founded
ReWild Eugene, with the mission of “reclaiming our
human heritage as caretakers of the earth.” With his
wife Anna, they teach stewardship through skills of
self-sufficiency. See http://rewild.com for more details.

Remember playing in the yard as a kid? For as
long as humans have roamed the earth we have
always been connected with the natural world
around us. It has shaped who we are, and is
fundamental to our well being. Generations have
passed since many of us have experienced,
deeply, our roots in nature.
“Whenever
we're out on a
walk, our son
still shares
things he
learned
from last
year’s
program!”

Through explorations in bushcraft, naturalist skills, nature hikes and cooperative awareness
games—children work together in small groups gaining knowledge of plants, mammals,
tracking, birds and survival, as well as increasing their overall nature awareness.
Whole Earth Nature School mentors kids in forming a deep connection with nature. Each nine-week
after-school nature camp program is a unique experience. We custom tailor every session depending
on what the children uncover in nature, as well as what individual interests they bring to the group.
And of course, every season brings different animals, plant cycles, weather patterns and lessons.
Enroll your child in each season of Coyote Kids! nature camps and they will experience entirely new
journeys while deepening skills learned in seasons prior. Sound like fun?
