Pre‐professional Association Towards Careers in Health (PATCH) provides support, advising and up‐to‐date information to students pursuing careers in health care. Programs include academic advising; guest speakers on allopathic and alternative medicine; career options; information on medical school admissions, MCAT preparation, research, and internships, and a visit to a local medical school. 2532 for more information. Policy Analysis and Management Organization (PAMO) is open to undergraduate students in the Policy Analysis and Management major as well those interested in the major. Through social and educational programs, PAMO seeks to connect PAM students within Human Ecology, to create stronger links with faculty and to inform students of ways that they can maximize their experiences as a PAM, Human Ecology and Cornell Student. Pre‐Law Undergraduate Society (PLUS) supports students in their exploration and pursuit of a legal education, while promoting and sustaining a dialogue on contemporary legal issues. Members receive access to information through guest lectures, panelists, and programs. Events are organized to provide information on understanding the law school admissions process, preparing for a legal education, and exploring careers. Organizations
Sloan Student Association is open to graduate students in the Sloan Program interested in health and related fields. Through social and educational activities, the Association promotes and maintains interaction among the students, alumni, faculty and the other professional schools located on the Cornell campus. The Association provides volunteer and other opportunities for Sloan students to interact with health organizations within the Ithaca community to further its goals to bring together students and other constituencies interested in health management. Through education, advocacy, community building and outreach the society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design. Association for Students of Color (ASC) unites Human Ecology students of color to provide a supportive foundation for their enrollment, retention, graduation, and career placement. ASC members work toward these goals by: participating in on‐campus hosting programs, high school visitations, and sponsoring alumni career forums. Additionally, members provide volunteer services to the Cornell and Ithaca communities, as well as hosting annual fall and spring events. Cornell Fashion Collective (CFC) formerly, the Cornell Design League, was formed to provide students interested in designing apparel an opportunity to express their creativity outside of the classroom by producing a fashion show every spring. Concerned with all aspects of professional presentation, the annual show provides a creative outlet for those interested in graphics, photography, and theater production. A majority of CFC fashion designers are part of the Department of Fiber Science & Apparel Design, but the organization welcomes full‐time students from all Cornell majors and schools. Health and Nutrition Society (HealthNuts) is an undergraduate service organization that supports health, nutrition, and wellness on the Cornell campus and in the Ithaca community. Members produce a campus‐wide newsletter about health and nutrition called Mastication, hold fundraisers to benefit organizations such as Loaves and Fishes, a local soup kitchen, and to donate food to GIAC, an after school tutoring program. The organization goals are to provide opportunities for students to interact with the academic community by organizing Faculty‐Student Coffee hours and to collaborate service efforts with other health‐oriented student groups. Human Ecology Ambassadors is a group of Human Ecology students who serve as liaisons between the College, and prospective students and their families. Ambassadors provide the student voice in the admissions process and support recruitment and yield activities for each incoming freshman and transfer class. Ambassadors are selected through an application and an interview process during the fall semester. Human Ecology Mature Students Association serves students of age 24 and older (at time of matriculation). Many mature students balance multiple commitments with academics. We help by providing a forum for resource exchange and referral, support, socializing, and special projects depending on student interest. Human Ecology Peer Partnership Program was created to help incoming students of color with the transition to the college and university. Small groups of freshman and transfers, usually about 6‐
8 students, are partnered with faculty and upper class students. They meet weekly for discussions, guidance, and explorations of the Cornell campus and community. Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) has a Cornell chapter that consists of a group of students and faculty interested in human factors and ergonomics. The organization, based in the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis, plans and coordinates events and activities that include invited speakers, practical demonstrations of ergonomic design principles, and field trips. International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) helps students who are interested in the field of facility planning and management explore the profession and stay current with the latest issues in the field. Chapter activities include speaker events, field trips, and joint meetings with other professional association chapters. Student members also have access to the IFMA research library, scholarships, educational events, and IFMA publications. As a chapter of the national honor society, KON empowers leaders through scholarship, research, and leadership development. Induction ceremonies are held in the fall and spring semesters. 255‐2532 for more information. Orientation Committee recruits, trains, and supervises student orientation staff members in support of our new students. Committee members plan recruitment, and design and conduct training during fall and spring semesters. During August and January orientation periods, committee members lead the student staff as they play critical roles in welcoming and assisting new Human Ecology students.
