Course Description

Grade 7 curriculum provides students with the opportunity to explore ancient civilizations. Students will begin to understand the role of archeologists and how they piece together the lives of our ancestors. Students will compare and contrast the lives of their ancestors with their own. They will begin to understand the importance of studying the past. Through our study of ancient civilizations we will seek to understand the development of civilization and the world as we know it.

Units of Study

Social Studies 7 begins with a study of civilization and the steps taken to achieve it. We will personalize this with a family history project. The remainder of the school year will be spent studying the rise and fall of various ancient civilizations and their contributions to our world.

Expectations

Students are expected to come to class daily with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and participate. Please let Ms. Cowling know in advance if there is going to be a planned absence. Students are expected to check the website for missed assignments at www.aberdeengrade7.weebly.com

. Students are also required to come to class with their binder, paper, pens or pencils, and their agenda.
