Mr. Gibbons practises commercial real estate law with an emphasis on commercial acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development, public-private partnerships and structured finance. He also has experience assisting with the real estate components of M&A transactions. Professional Activities Mr. Gibbons is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of England and Wales. Representative Work Mr. Gibbons has acted for: - Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Transportation, in connection with the development of the Windsor-Essex Parkway, a $1.6-billion limited access parkway linking the Highway 401 with a new bridge and border crossing over the Detroit River. - OMERS Private Equity in respect of its acquisition of Cantest. - Neptune Technology Group in connection with the negotiation of a contract with the City of Toronto for the provision of smart meters to all residential and commercial properties in the City of Toronto. - Atlantic Packaging in connection with the sale of its tissue division to Cascades Inc. - Bell Canada in connection with its acquisition of the assets of The Source by Circuit City, involving 750 retail locations. - Golden Gate Capital in connection with its $286-million acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Eddie Bauer Holdings, Inc., including Eddie Bauer's Canadian retail store network. - Lowe's Companies, Inc., the second largest home improvement retailer in the world, in connection with the securing of sites and development of large format retail stores as part of their first international expansion plan, extending the reach of their stores in Canada. - German-based K+S AG on certain Canadian real estate matters in its acquisition of Morton International, Inc. for US$1.675 billion, from Rohm & Haas Co. - Tyco Electronics Ltd. on Canadian real estate matters in the US$675-million sale of its Wireless Systems business to Harris Corporation. - NRDC Equity Partners on certain Canadian real estate matters in connection with its acquisition of Hudson's Bay Co.
