In 2006, the company merged Gemini TV Pvt Ltd and all units and divisions of Udaya
TV. In Apr 2007, it acquired its present name. Sun TV is primarily engaged in producing
and broadcasting satellite television and radio software programming in the regional
languages of South India.

Sun TV is one of the largest television broadcasters in India. The company operates
20 satellite television channels across four languages of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and
Malayalam, in six genres of GEC, news, music, movies, kids and comedy. The company
along with its subsidiaries operates a pan India network in the FM Radio broadcasting
segment with 44 FM licenses. The various television channels of the company are available
in 27 countries across all the seven continents. The company’s DTH service viz. Sun Direct
caters more than 6.4 mn subscribers. In FY10, the company started a wholly owned
subsidiary, Sun TV Network Europe Ltd in UK in order to broadcast and distribute its
channels in UK and Europe.
