My Culture Project

Ms. May & Mr. Tavani

Everyone has a culture. Many of us have backgrounds with more than one culture.

For this assignment you will create a project that represents your own culture as you choose to identify it. You will have three options. See the explanations below. In addition to creating your project, you will present it to the class and share about your own culture.

Choose ONE of the following projects:

My Culture Essay Mosiac of Me Me in a Bag

Write an essay explaining different aspects or elements of your culture. You should include either an explanation of objects that represent those aspects or your culture or an explanation of how those aspects of your culture shape your everyday life.

Create a collage of pictures that represent different aspects or elements of your culture.

You can draw pictures, use clippings from magazines, or photographs of objects. Each photo should have a short written explanation attached to the poster telling how that picture represents an aspect or element of your culture.

Collect several objects that represent different aspects or elements of your culture and put them in a bag. You can use any type of object. Each object should have a short written explanation with it in the bag that tells how that object represents an aspect or element of your culture.

Whichever project you choose, you must discuss five of the following aspects of your culture. You will be graded on including them and how well your explanations connect to each aspect of your culture. If you include an aspect of culture and explain it fully you will receive all 5 points for that aspect. If you do not include an aspect you will not receive any points for that aspect of culture. If you include the aspect but do not explain it fully you will receive partial credit. You may choose to include all 7 aspects listed below.
