OVERVIEW OF THE MINING AND ENGINEERING CENTRE
Building will commence early this year on the new TAFE SA Mining and Engineering Centre at Regency Park campus.
The Centre is designed to provide training excellence to support the State’s growth in the Mining, Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Transport
and Defence industries. It is anticipated the first stage of building will be completed by mid-year, with TAFE SA delivery to be consolidated and
integrated from across the TAFE SA network, to this one site.
The purpose built facility will assist South Australia to face significant skill shortages in specialist industry areas, with approximately 25,000 – 30,000
vacancies anticipated in the transport and engineering sectors within the next five years.
The new Centre will provide a broad range of skills and knowledge for those seeking work in the Resources, Automotive and General Engineering
sectors. There will also be a capability to provide training to existing workers to upgrade their skills relevant to their industries. The location of the
Elizabeth and Noarlunga campuses will enable initial training to be conducted without having to travel a great distance from home or work locations.
