A Guideline to Self-Introduction Speech Read the following nine questions and answer them as completely as possible with some examples for your first presentation (self-introduction) in Week 1-2. You may use the questions as a guide to help you organize your thoughts. You don’t have to write your whole speech on paper, but you can prepare for the outline memo to look at. A quick look at the questions while you are speaking will help remind you what to say about yourself. 1. What is your name? (Be sure to say your full name clearly. If it is unusual or hard to pronounce, spell it or say again accurately for the class.) 2. Where are you originally from, how long have you been staying at the current place (residential area), and why? 3. Why did you enter Doshisha University? 4. What is your major in your undergraduate program? What is your (planned) undergraduate research topic? 5. What kind of part-time job(s) do you have now or have had so far? In what way were they / is it useful or experientially profitable? 6. What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies? 7. What special interests do you have? 8. What are some of your future plans and goals after the graduation from Doshisha University? 9. What do you think you will benefit from taking this class? These nine questions are meant to help guide you through your speech, and do not limit what you would like to say. Try to think of other things that will help the classmates to learn more about you. You are encouraged to tell us even more about yourself! But remember that the time for this presentation is basically only for 1 minute.
