The Queen of Sheba, famous for presenting King
Solomon with a caravan of precious stones and
spices in Holy Jerusalem, is thought to have come
from Saba, a powerful incense-trading kingdom
located in present-day Yemen. In about 450 BC
Herodotus wrote, “This is the one country in the
world where frankincense grows, and myrrh, and
cassia, and cinnamon and labdanum...the whole
country exhales a more than earthly fragrance".
Many centuries later, a young entrepreneur from
Yemen, Hussain Adam Ali, would carry on the rich
tradition of this ancient land, and provide the very
best in Arabian fragrance and incense.

Swiss Arabian Perfume Group’s epic journey began
almost 4 decades ago with an ambitious dream to
establish the region’s first indigenous world-class
perfume house. Over the years we have made
phenomenal strides as a team, transforming the
most demanding challenges into the most lucrative
opportunities and creating lasting value for all our
stakeholders.
Today, as we look back, we can take justifiable pride
in our unstinting commitment to pursue and achieve
the goal of being the pre-eminent Arabian perfume
retailer of choice for consumers in the Gulf region
and beyond.
Over the years we have seen the metamorphosis of
styles, rapid evolution of consumer tastes, dramatic
shifts in demographic patterns and fluctuating
market conditions, and have met each challenge
with resilience. We have excelled with our ability to
adapt and learn being our greatest strength. We have
consistently re-invented our brand through product
innovation, and by listening to our customers. This

Building a
legacy
In the early seventies, the discovery of petroleum
transformed the Gulf countries into booming
economies. Foreseeing a prosperous future in the
newly-formed federation, United Arab Emirates,
Hussain Adam Ali decided to establish the
country’s first perfume manufacturing company in
collaboration with Swiss perfumery giant, Givaudan
Roure, the latter providing technical expertise and
know how to the fledgling new Arabian perfume
house. Thus, this alliance between an Arab. pioneer
and a European perfumery giant gave birth to Swiss
Arabian Perfumes Group (SAPG).
Nearly forty years on, Hussain Adam Ali’s two
sons carry on the responsibility of keeping this
Arabian legacy alive, and expanding the
company to new horizons.

What started as a simple trading house with only
three employees, is now a thousand strong company
with functional “experts” in every area of perfume
making. Using the most advanced machinery with a
highly qualified quality assurance staff allows us to
maintain an edge. The resultant depth of our
experience in creating trendsetting perfumes is
without parallel amongst our peers.
Add to this our stringent adherence to ISO 9000
standards, SAPG being the only perfume company
to achieve this distinction in the region, and you
have superior quality products that meet the
highest level of customer expectation.
However, the art of perfume making is not all
science. While we use in-depth market research
and analysis to identify new trends, and even more
sophisticated technology to assure the quality, the
one thing that is impossible to replicate is our
perfect sense of smell & design. That perfection is
a reflection of our passion for perfumes and the
pioneering spirit which has made us leaders in this
arena for nearly four decades.

Timeless
fragrances
One of the most coveted essential oils comes from
the Aquilaria tree, also known as the Agarwood
tree. This species of trees is found mostly in South
East Asia and its oil can fetch a price higher than
that of gold. Ood, as it is referred to in the Middle
East, has been used for thousands of years, and is
highly prized by local Arabs as the ultimate natural
perfume. At Swiss Arabian, we stock only the finest
oods and dehn el oods (essence of ood) that have
been meticulously collected from across South East
Asia, and meet our exacting standards.
We also carry other exquisite natural perfumes
that mesmerise the senses like Amber, Rose,
Sandalwood
oil,
Musk,
Saffron
and
Jasmine, to name a few. Customers can choose to
indulge themselves with these fragrances in their
pure form, or in blends called Mukhalats, or in
incense known as Bakhoors.
With the boundaries of perfume markets fast
dissolving, fusion products and western perfumes
have also begun to define new customer tastes.
Pioneering this cross-cultural trend, Swiss Arabian
continues to innovate through new scents and
packaging, with bestsellers like Kashkha, Mukhalat
Malaki, Fadeitak and Rakaan, winning over the most
demanding perfume lovers all over the world.

Swiss Arabian is the flagship brand of the group
and its expressions of exceptional quality are
distributed primarily through our own outlets. The
first Swiss Arabian branded retail outlets started
operations in 1980 at the historic Souk Murshid
Dubai, where patrons explored the finest Arabian
perfumes in an outdoor souk environment.
These outdoor souks served as the primary
distribution channel to customers well until the
late 1990s. However, with the advent of the
modern shopping mall, the Gulf, and Dubai in
particular, lead the way to a new revolution in
shopping. The huge Hyper markets, with their
magnificent food courts, entertainment areas and
hundreds of prime retailers from every category of
business, were an immediate draw to a rapidly
growing and affluent society. These Mega Malls are
being built at unprecedented speed to serve the
insatiable shopping appetite that has become the
hallmark of Dubai’s fame.
Swiss Arabian has taken advantage of this massive
new Gulf-wide trend by expanding aggressively
across two main segments: the kiosk concept, and
the stand-alone showroom concept. The former
concept is well-suited to consumers who want
affordable perfumes in an efficient and convenient
format. Meanwhile, the showroom concept caters to
customers who want that extra bit of service,
product range and quality, in a luxurious and
inviting setting.

Swiss Arabian’s stunning retail showrooms are
fabulously designed with traditional Arabian
architecture and colours to reflect the magnificent
heritage of the brand.
The elegance of the
showrooms is accentuated with stylish contemporary
elements to portray the company’s innovative and
modern approach. Likewise, the kiosks also follow
the same brand guidelines as the showroom but
are designed to be efficient, and yet
look distinctive.
By the end of 2013, Swiss Arabian branded outlets
will number over 110 with locations in some of the
most prestigious shopping destinations in the region.

Malls, Emaar, Nakheel, Emke Group, Arabian Center,
Dubai Festical City and Mohammad Al Habib, to name

Over 300 dedicated young men and women at Swiss
Arabian’s retail outlets are united by a single vision
to offer customers the most exemplary shopping
experience. Each Swiss Arabian showroom is
tastefully designed, with designated areas for each
product category.
Islamic motifs adorn the shop, and ornamental
hand-painted silk lamps remind us of a bygone era.
You can sit on the beautifully handcrafted chairs or
browse at your own pace. In either case, you will

horizon
As we look ahead, the potential for Swiss Arabian’s
expansion remains extremely bright. In the near
term, our focus will remain firmly fixed on the
Arabian Gulf, with Saudi Arabia being the most
lucrative expansion opportunity for us. We will
continue to add shops in both our formats - kiosks
and stand-alone showrooms. And in the long term,
we will look at franchising opportunities both here
in the Gulf and further abroad. New product
innovation will remain the cornerstone of our
future strategy and will be supported by an
aggressive media budget. Other marketing
initiatives, such as focussing on customer loyalty
and staff training will also be an integral part of our
strategy and will ensure that we remain the leading
Perfume House in the region for the foreseeable
future.

‫ﻗﻴﺎﺳﻴﺔ ﻟﺘﻠﺒﻴﺔ اﻟﺮﻏﺒﺔ اﻟﻤﺘﺰاﻳﺪة ﻟﻠﺘﺴﻮق اﻟﺘﻲ‬
