The structured CSR Program came into place when Amway India’s CSR arm, Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) got registered on 16 th March, 2001 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The objective behind establishment of AOF is to act as the community concern arm of Amway India Enterprises to fulfill its mission and implement various projects for the betterment of Indian community, through an independent autonomous body distinct from the commercial operations of Amway. Since inception, we have been working for the less-privileged child to help them lead a better life, with special focus on the blind child. The CSR program has been more focused from 2003 when Amway One by One Campaign for Children launched across more than 80 Amway Affiliates. One by One pulls together all of our resources – our employees, affiliates, Business Owners and customers – to make a difference for children in need. Through this campaign, Amway has an opportunity i) to make a real, lasting difference by improving the lives of children around the world, ii) Give our Business Owners, employees, affiliates and customers a source of pride that goes beyond business. A BRIEF CASE STUDY ON AMWAY OPPORTUNITY FOUNDATION- ALL INDIA CONFEDERATION FOR BLIND CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE(AOF-AICB CENTER FOR 2012- AOF© EXCELLENCE) The Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF)- AICB Centre for Excellence located at Rohini, New Delhi as a vocational training center, was established in August 2008, to impart intensive training to visually challenged post-graduate students. The objective of setting up the centre was to equip visually challenged learners with primary IT skills and enhance their employability while also serving the premise of their integration with the mainstream of society. The set up included complete hardware and software (Jaws)support, internet facility, UPS, electrical wiring and air-conditioning of the room, as well as recurring costs such as computer instructor, personality development & accent trainer, electricity etc. This IT course had a time duration of one year providing students with knowledge on computers, internet, English language & Personality Development, operating a computer system and phone simultaneously which can help them in the role of customer service/call center. Since its inception the center has trained over 75 students. CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS & CSR Page 5 In addition to a full time dedicated computer trainer and personality development & accent trainer being deployed at the Center, The Amway HR department also imparted soft skills training to students studying at this centre to enhance their basic skills sets including Communications Skills, Interview handling, assertiveness, body language etc. For the Delhi centre, AOF also partnered with I-Train, a team of consultants to impart training on personal grooming, etiquette, motivation and team building. Considering the tangible benefits accrued by students encouraged us to upscale this initiative at a national level. So far AOF has set up 16 such computer/vocational centres across India. Ms.Ranjana Rana & Mr. Madhav Chandra Das were two bright students of 2008-09 batch from the AOF-AICB Center for Excellence who came out as successful working professionals, despite of their physical limitations. It was their true determination, interest and rigor that made them stand out. Madhav Chandra, with 100% vision impairment, belongs to the village Uparbarga of District Ramgarh, Jharkhand. He had done his graduation in Humanities from Satyawati College (Regular), Delhi University. After completing one year course from AOF -AICB Center for Excellence was absorbed as computer instructor at the Gurgaon center itself and since then he is imparting training to other visually challenged students. Ranjana Rana who has 75% vision loss, hails from the village Tikri of Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh and has completed her graduation in Humanities from Himachal Pradesh University. Ranjana first completed a one-year course and worked for two years at Amway India’s Delhi Regional Call Centre as Executive. There she got enriched in customer care function, and later on her interest in teaching and supporting other visually challenged students’ moved her to join National Association for the Blind, R.K. Puram branch, New Delhi. She is presently working as the Project Incharge and helping in unleashing potential of other visually challenged students.
