Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2013 HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST WINNERS NOTEWORTHY Best laugh The most photographed costumes might have been the sumo wrestlers worn by the HR department. The battery -powered fans inside the one-size-fits-all outfits kept the air circulating inside and the cos- Julie Talbert, tumes inflated. Two of a sumo with bad teeth the crew went as geisha girls. “We wanted to do something different, something to have fun with and to make people laugh,” said Doug Harrison, director of HR and a coordinator for the Halloween activities. “We had a lot of fun.” Harrison added that everyone complimented the tasty food served up at lunch. “Hats off to the food services folks and to everyone who volunteered to serve,” he added. Best of all, employees contributed $967 to the Employee Emergency Fund by buying stickers for the privilege of wearing a costume or blue jeans. First place Mary Lynn Smith ICU Cruella de Vil Judges comments: She nailed it. Hair was sprayed to look like the character, mink stole, cigarette and holder all contributed to the overall look. Judges comments: Individual efforts in costuming, all judges agreed, every person had so much creativity in individual costumes; innovative ideas, duct tape, hair ideas, time involved. Second place Kathy Griffin with a toy Singer Making the Smurf hats Kathy Griffin whipped up all 16 Smurf hats for her co-workers. In a former life, she was a tailor. She clogs regularly with a group and performed recently at the State Fair. Marilyn Harrison, who accompanied her daughter to her treatment, said the costumed staff brightened their day.
