Educational Technologies | Centre for Teaching Innovation and Excellence How to Submit Final Grades to LORIS from MyLearningSpace Faculty may submit grades directly to the Registrar’s Office using MyLearningSpace. If you do not currently use MyLearningSpace and would like to do so for grade submission purposes, click on the following link to request set-up: https://www.wlu.ca/forms_detail.php?grp_id=10042&frm_id=2477 Grades are submitted to LORIS from the Grades tool in MyLearningSpace. The Grades tool is located in the tool bar along the top of the page. Only the individual listed as the course instructor in Banner can submit grades. Your teaching assistant or administrative assistant cannot submit grades from their MyLearningSpace account. Grades can only be submitted from MyLearningSpace ONCE. MyLearningSpace will convert numeric grades to alphanumeric grades using the following legend (not all of these grades are valid for all courses: see page 4 of this document): Please note: decimal numbers will be rounded up or down to the nearest whole number. Numeric Grade 90 – 100 85 – 89 80 – 84 Alpha Grade A+ A A- Numeric Grade 77 – 79 73 – 76 70 – 72 Alpha Grade B+ B B- Numeric Grade 67 – 69 63 – 66 60 – 62 Alpha Grade C+ C C- Numeric Grade 57 – 59 53 – 56 50 – 52 0 – 49 Alpha Grade D+ D DF Notes • • The following step-by-step instructions presume MyLearningSpace has been used throughout the term to record grades, and that all grade book columns have the correct weighting assigned. If you are using MyLearningSpace for the sole purpose of submitting final grades, please import your grades by following the instructions in the document found at this link: http://www.wlu.ca/docsnpubs_detail.php?grp_id=10042&doc_id=44173. Continue reading at step 4. Timing: Grades are submitted in real time and are posted to LORIS periodically throughout the day. In the top portion of the screen to the right of the words “Final Grades” you should see a downward pointing arrow. When clicked, a menu will appear. Click the Transfer All item to copy all your Final Calculated Grades to the Final Adjusted Grade column. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to confirm the grades transfer. Click Yes. 4. Before your Final Adjusted Grades are submitted, please review them to ensure all students have been assigned the appropriate grade. If any of these grades need to be adjusted, simply type in the new final grade that the student should receive. When finished, click Save. If there are grades you do not want to submit, erase the Final Adjusted Grade numerator and denominator for that student. The students’ Final Calculated Grade will be preserved. 5. Once you have saved your final adjusted grades, click the Cancel button to return to the Enter Grades screen. At the ensuing page, click the Submit Final Grades to LORIS link at the top of the page. To do this, click the edit icon (which looks like a pencil) for that student, enter the appropriate grade, and click Apply. If you have no incomplete grades, skip this step. 7. When you are ready to submit your students’ final grades, click the Submit All Grades button in the bottom, left-hand corner of the page. 8. A new page will display the steps involved in sending grades from MyLearningSpace to LORIS as they happen. When the grade submission process is complete, click the Continue button in the bottom, left corner of the page. 9. You should now see a list of your students, along with their Final Adjusted Grades, and the results indicated in the Status column (e.g., “Accepted by SIS”).
