Akita International University
Arrival Information - Fall Semester 2014 Akita International University (AIU) will provide a free pick-up service for new international students from JR Akita
Station, Akita Airport, and Hotel Plaza Crypton at the designated hours on Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26.
You will then be taken to the AIU campus to check into campus housing.
AIU requests new students to arrive on campus during the following check-in dates/time:
Check-in hours:
Monday, August 25: 9:00 – 22:00
Tuesday, August 26: 9:00 - 16:00
New student orientation will begin on Tuesday, August 26 at 16:15, so all students should be sure to arrive before
that time to avoid missing critical information.
Please submit the online Arrival Form by August 15. The form is available on each student’s Study Abroad Progress page
in the online application system. The online application system log-in page is at https://abroad.aiu.ac.jp/.
Notes:
*You cannot check in to AIU on-campus housing before Monday, August 25.
*Individual buses below will be cancelled if no student signs up for them, so please make sure to sign up using the
online application form.

Meeting Point at JR Akita Station……………………………………………. (Bus Stop No. 5 at Bus Station near EAST EXIT)
If you reserve a seat for AIU’s pick-up service from JR Akita Station, our bus will be at the East Exit bus stop No. 5.
Please be sure to turn left after exiting the ticket gate to go toward the East Exit, as shown below.
1) After you exit the Central Gate, turn LEFT
and go toward the EAST EXIT.
2) Walk to the EAST EXIT and go down to
the first (ground) floor.
4) Here is Bus stop No. 5
3) Once you are out from the EAST EXIT, turn LEFT
and go to No. 5 bus stop.

AIU staff will be in front of the arrival gate inside the terminal building for pick-up. You will not miss the AIU staff
because there is only one arrival gate.

Transportation Information
Students who arrive outside the designated arrival times will have to travel to campus on their own. All students
should bring a copy of this information to Japan in their carry-on, in case of travel delays.

the following to the driver. This is a request to take you to AIU campus and also gives the address and phone number of

There is another university called “Akita University”, so please make sure to tell the driver “Akita International
University (AIU)” or “Kokusai-Kyōyō-Daigaku (国際教養大学).”
