TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MERRY MAIDS OF EAST YORKSHIRE
Service
•
Merry Maids will provide cleaning staff to clean the customers home but Merry Maids will make the decision of
number of staff dependent on the size/nature of the work required
•
The duration of the cleaning service will be based on size and condition of the property and will be at the sole
discretion of Merry Maids. Merry Maids does not charge for the hours the staff are cleaning in your property
•
Merry Maids will arrive at a customer’s home between 9.00 am and 2.30 pm. We cannot guarantee arrival times
of the maids. If the customer is at home and the maids are significantly delayed the office will contact the
customer to advise them of the delay.
•
Merry Maids will clean the property on the pre-arranged day. If an alteration to the scheduled clean is required
Merry Maids request that 3 working days notice, by TELEPHONE, of this alteration is given.
•
Merry Maids staff will follow a work schedule. If any alterations or additional work is required we ask that this is
notified to the office at least one working day before for the clean. Any such changes could alter the fee.
Valuables
•
Merry Maids request that any item that is of sentimental value, fragile or breakable is removed or secured on
the day of the clean
Equipment and Supplies
•
Merry Maids will provide all cleaning materials, vacuums and other equipment. The use of the customers
products and equipment is discouraged due to health and safety regulations. If you require your own product to
be used Merry Maids are not liable for any damage to property as a result of using your own product. Merry
Maids also requires the correct health and safety information to be provided with the product.
•
Merry Maids requires both a supply of hot water and electricity and it is expected that these are supplied on
the day of the clean. If either is not available it may result in the staff being unable to work and therefore a
cancellation charge to you.
Satisfaction Guarantee
•
Merry Maids guarantee our work and will re-visit to re-clean areas not to satisfaction provided such areas are
notified to Merry Maids within 24 hours of the clean. Where such notification is received if this is made to the
office on a Friday afternoon the re-clean will be undertaken on the following working day.

Merry Maids reserve the right to cancel the service
•
If the cleaning job is of a condition that is hazardous to health
•
The client has misrepresented facts or information
Health and Safety
•
Merry Maids staff are all given health and safety training and we would ask you to bear this in mind when they
are in your home and ask that you ensure:-
a. The property is tidy and clutter free
b. Animal soiling is cleared away prior to cleaning
c. Any infections are notified to the office which may result in Merry Maids cancelling the clean on
that day
d. Any pets that are likely to hinder the Merry Maids are secured for the safety of the staff and your pets
•
Where ever possible Merry Maids will move furniture as required to clean under however this may not be
possible due to the items weight, size or position
•
Staff are provided with a three tread step ladder and extension poles on equipment which are sufficient for most
cleaning tasks. Due to health and safety constraints we cannot work from specialist equipment to reach difficult
to reach or non standard height areas.
•
Merry Maids are under strict instruction not to deal with any human soiling, soiled cloths, pet soiling or other
similar hazards on external surfaces or furnishings due to health and safety. Our teams are instructed to leave
any room/area containing offending items and to inform the office. The staff cannot used bleach due to current
health and safety legislation.
Prices and Quotations
•
All prices quoted by phone, letter or email are subject to our terms and conditions
•
Merry Maids reserves the right to amend any quotation should requirements change or due to any missing or
incorrect information provided
•
Apart from price increases outside of our control e.g. VAT, minimum wage excessive increases in fuel, the cost
of the service will remain fixed for the first year. A review of the charges will be made on the anniversary of your
service
•
Should the Merry Maids arrive at the property and be unable to enter or we are delayed in anyway by the client/
client’s contractors, this would result in additional charges
Public Holidays/Christmas Closure
•
Should your cleaning visit fall on a Bank Holiday or Public Holiday every effort will be made to re-arrange your
service, although this cannot always be guaranteed
•
Merry Maids closes for a week over the Christmas period and every effort will be made to re-schedule your clean
but this cannot always be guaranteed
Payment
•
Payment can be made by cheque or cash which we request on the day of the clean unless alternative
arrangements have been made. We can also accept payment by Standing Order.
•
If a client cancels or skips a regular scheduled clean without the notice required then full payment for the clean
will be made.

•
Merry Maids will make a charge to the customer for any fees related to recovery of debt including bank charges,
interest, administration fees, debt recovery agency fees and court costs.
•
If payment is not received on the day of the clean (unless by prior arrangement) the clean would still be carried
out but we request the payment is sent to the office. If the payment is not received prior to the next scheduled
clean or double payment left then the following clean will be cancelled until payment is received.
•
If payment is made by cash then we would request the correct amount is left as the cleaning staff do not carry
change.
Cancellation by the client
•
To allow us to provide for our clients, we have to plan and allocate cleaning teams jobs up to two weeks in
advance . Therefore we require a minimum of one weeks notice by TELEPHONE for any cancellation. If notice
of less than one week but more than one working days notice is give the client is liable for 50% of our normal
fee. If less than one working days notice is given full payment for the clean will be charged.
Staff
•
You shall not at any time from the date we provide a cleaning service to you and for a period of twelve months
after completion of the last cleaning service, solicit or entice away from us or employ (or attempt to employ) any
person who is, or has been, engaged as an employee. Any breach will result in a payment to us of £250 per
incident.
•
Cleaning teams are not permitted to smoke in the clients home
•
If our staff accidentally causes any breakages we will endeavour to either repair or replace the item in question. If we cannot repair or replace other arrangements will be made. We would advise that any item of particular
sentimental value and therefore difficult to replace should be placed in a display cabinet or remove prior to
cleaning work.
Insurance
•
Merry Maids have both Public Liability and Employers Liability. Should any damaged be caused to the clients
possessions or property this needs to be reported to the Merry Maids office within two working days of our visit
