School Report
Keira Ainsworth, Headteacher of Maids Moreton
CE School has contributed this school report: The
last three days of the school year is always a time
of mixed emotions for everyone. The excitement of
the summer holidays about to start and the
anticipation of all the different activities, places to
visit and people to see. It is also a time of sadness
as we say goodbye to our Year 2 children who will
be leaving us for their new Junior Schools. They
leave us in the knowledge that they have been
carefully nurtured and prepared for this transition
so they may successfully continue the next stage of
their education with confidence and a love of
learning. We send them on with our very best
wishes and remind them to return from time to
time to share with us their news. As the year ends
it is also a time for saying thank you to all those
people who have contributed to the success of the
school. The governors and myself recognise the
skills of the whole staff who have worked tirelessly
and whose efforts are reflected in the high
standards of achievement, behaviour and well
rounded pupils. Thank you to the team of ladies
from St Edmund’s Church, who lead our worship
every Wednesday and to the PTA for providing all
those extras for the children with their fundraising.
The Year 2 pupils led the Leavers’ Service on
Monday in the school to which parents were
invited. On Wednesday the whole school
community attended the End of Year Service at St
Edmund’s Church; the first school service to be
held since the church was reordered. From
everyone at Maids Moreton CE School we wish you
a very happy summer holiday.
Merrymakers
The group will be visiting Weston-super-Mare on
August 5, starting at 9am. Pauline can be

Village Hall
Following their recent meeting, Maids Moreton
Village Hall Committee are happy to advise that
bookings remain buoyant with a wide variety of
activities available for all ages, including
preschool exercise, yoga, Pilates, circuit training,
U3A groups, dancing and whist. Further
information is available on the hall notice board.
This year revenues will be spent on maintenance
of the roof and the central heating system. The
committee would like to thank Andy Crickmore
for trimming the hedges and Mark Hatfield for
surveying and making good the roof without
charge. The village hall and kitchen facilities are
available for local people to hire for parties and
meetings. The bookings officer is Lucy Viewing,
01280 469159 or email
lucyviewing@yahoo.com. Please book in good
time as the hall is very popular.
Summer Fete
Maids Moreton Hall will be holding a bumper
traditional Summer Fete on August 22. Make
this a date in your diary for a big village event.
