Dr Edward Bach, a Harley
street homoeopath in the
1930's had a philosophy of
simplicity, hence the 38 Bach
flower remedies, which
effectively cover all states of
negative emotion. As a
negative emotional state is
relieved it may be discovered
that it was hiding another. By
treating this state with the
remedies we "unpeel the
onion skin". We all have
behavioural tendencies which
cover an emotional state
which we do not wish to
reveal to either ourselves or
others, but which effects the
way we function in our day to

CASE ONE
03.08,04
Mandy is 18 and is living with
her partner Clive who is 37.
She has been feeling low for 5
- 6 weeks. She stopped taking
the contraceptive pill 5
months ago because it didn't
suit her, but her periods are
still irregular. She feels that
she doesnt want to do
anything, doesn't want to go
out (they used to have an
active social life) and can't be
bothered with work. Mandy is
part of a team of groundsmen
on a large estate, and has
always loved her job.
Her energy is low. She sleeps
OK but about every 2 weeks
she says her head is too busy.
She has no libido, and gets
angry for no reason. Her
anger is generally expressed
verbally but occasionally after
drinking too much she
becomes violent.
Mandy feel very insecure in
her relationship with Clive,
she admits to being absolutely
besotted with him and sees
herself as fat and ugly particularly when they are out
socially.
A couple of months ago a
friend of hers died of MS, they
had known each other
through school and she'feels
that she didn't see enough of
him over the last year when

of Clive's home. Even though
she still loves Clive very much
she knows that the
relationship was going nowhere and she is beginning to
enjoy singularity. She is
beginning to see that Clive
was very dominating, which
could have contributed to her
depression. She gets panic
attacks when she thinks about
Clive, she still misses him.

Mandy has more energy, and
her libido has returned. She is
less depressed generally. She
also feels better about the
death of her friend.
But since I last saw Mandy
she has become suspicious
that Clive is seeing someone
else, Mandy found the
telephone number of a girl
that she knows is after Clive,
this is making her feel terribly
insecure, afraid and empty.
She is afraid of confronting
Clive and won't let him see
that she is suspicious.
Rock Rose - for terror, she id
so afraid of Clive leaving her.
Elm - insecurity, for feeling
inadequate, overwhelmed
with the situation she finds
herself in.

CASE TWO
07.04.05
Jade came to me after having
her baby. He is 11 weeks old.
She feels anxious and
nervous, everything is too
much and nothing works. She
gets worried about doing
things, she was supposed to
go to visit a friend last week
who lives 70 miles away and
she couldn't do it, and she
doesn't know why! She is
having horrible thoughts what she calls 'daymares',her
head won't shut up. She feels
unsupported by her family
and partner, and hopes that
her mother doesn't phone
because she will be horrid to
I spoke to Jade a couple of
times over the next week and
she said she felt much
stronger, and isn't trying so
hard to get everything done.
