Auction items – Bush Tales – a celebration of the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Pioneers.
Clive Walker is the Founder of the Endangered Wildlife Trust and he ran the Trust from 1973 to
1984. To raise money for the operations of the Trust in 1973 Clive sold his exquisite paintings of
cheetah. The cheetah paw print is the well known logo of the EWT. Now nearly forty years later
Clive has painted another magnificent watercolour in celebration of the work of the nearly 4
decades of work of the EWT. Again the charismatic and elusive feline is featured in this world class
original watercolour artwork. Drawn with Indian ink on French imported watercolour paper this
piece of art is priceless. The male cheetah is depicted in the familiar relaxed position.

 On offer is a special day with EWTs KwaZulu Natal Crane field worker Tanya Smith and the
EWTs grassland species manager Dr Ian Tchagra Little. Ian and Tanya are based in the
majestic KZN midlands known for its crisp winter climate and glorious summer sunshine but
more importantly for housing several of South Africa’s important threatened species. This
intriguing day outing promises a guided tour of the splendid grassland and wetland
landscapes and detailed explanations and “respectfully close encounters” with the species
that make the region unique. We may be lucky enough to see the Critically Endangered Blue
Swallows and maybe even the equally threatened Wattled Cranes on their nests. Other
attractions will include general birding in the area and hopefully a glimpse of the
endangered Oribi. An intriguing day in the field with our local experts.
 Grant Beverly – two days in the field working with our Wild dog Field Worker on the border
of Kruger Park with luxury accommodation included. Grant is working on the elusive wild
dog and working to save this species from extinction. Spend quality time with this talented
and passionate young conservationist as he attempts to determine why wild dog numbers
have plummeted in the Kruger National Park.
 Andre Botha – Manager of our Birds of Prey Programme – working in the Kruger and
accommodation at a 4 star Serafane Lodge in Phalaborwa. Andre is arguably one of the
foremost conservationists in the field of raptors.
 Matt Pretorius – Grass Owl specialist working at Suikerbosrand. Matt developed his love of
owls as a conservation student working in the Kgalagadi Transfronteir Park. He is currently
busy with a masters project focusing on the spatial ecology of the African Grass Owl.
