Clive Beddall, OBE FIGD International Food Industry & Media Consultant An international business journalist by profession, Clive Beddall was editor-in-chief of The Grocer, Europe’s leading and most influential food and drink magazine, for 12 years and worked with the weekly journal for 38 years. He now runs his own food and media consultancy, based in West Sussex, UK, and is a regular speaker on food and farming matters throughout Europe, the US and the Far East. In 2003, he was presented with the OBE (Order of the British Empire), medal by Queen Ellizabeth2 for services to the food industry. In 2001 he was voted as one of the top six business magazine editors in Great Britain and in 2002 received a UK magazine publishing industry special achievement award. Clive was, for five years, a member of a top-level industry group, set up by Tony Blair, to devise strategies to help improve the efficiency and profitability of food and farming in the UK. In addition, he acts as a media adviser for several leading multi-national food groups. A regular TV and radio broadcaster on food and farming affairs, as a journalist he has covered food and agriculture issues on every continent. He has made several visits to Israel to write about the country’s food and drink industry. He also writes for leading business magazines in mainland Europe and the US. He lives with his wife, Margaret, who also worked with the Grocer magazine, in a cottage on the English Channel coast.
