This course is designed to introduce students to college resources,

Study Tips
To do well in this course a student must attend regularly, hand in all
assignments at the start of class periods and participate in class
discussions. Students will have to demonstrate basic computer skills
such as checking and responding to email, performing word
processing functions, sending an email with an attachment and using
the DMACC website and Web Info System. Students will be
expected to familiarize themselves with Blackboard and should
complete the online Blackboard orientation within the first two
weeks of class.

Attendance

Attendance is required in order to be successful in this course.
Attendance will be taken every class session and points will be
earned (see grading policy) for each session. There are no excused
absences.
Grading Criteria
Prior to November 1, 2012, there were 115 points available. Your
points have been transferring over to the Blackboard gradebook
so you are able to see how much you have earned until that date.
Beginning November 1, 2012, the following grading schema will
be in place:
Completion plan: 30 points
Weekly reflection assignments (via email): 10 points each (five
remaining)
DMACC on/off campus activity: 20 points
Final (Jeopardy-esque): 50 points

Students are expected to treat each other and the instructor with
respect. Disruptive behavior, hostile, degrading or profane language
will not be tolerated. Please arrive to class on time, participate in
activities and turn off and put away cell phones and other
electronic devices when class begins. Your instructor will treat
you with respect and integrity and the same is expected in
return.

There will be no further quizzes required.

Assignments
Completion Plans: Submit completion plans that you completed for
spring semester
Weekly reflection assignments: Each week, I will email you within 24
hours of class and ask you two questions. You will respond to that
email before the beginning of class the following week with your
response to one of the questions. You response should be
approximately 10-15 sentences (between half a page and a page).
No late weekly reflection assignments will be accepted
DMACC on/off campus activity: Attend a campus event at DMACC
and complete the assignment sheet for the activity.
Extra Credit
Extra credit is available in the form of quizzes. If you would to
complete extra credit, please let me know. If you would like complete
extra credit in the form of something other than quizzes, we can meet
to arrange a plan.

Expectations
Students are expected to attend each class session, complete all
assignments and reading and devote at least 2 hours per week
outside of class reviewing the material in order to be successful in
this course.
“Individual circumstances such as health, childcare, rural roads,
distance from the College, etc. can vary greatly among students and
staff. It is always DMACC’s goal to provide safe learning conditions,
as well as provide the opportunity for students to attend classes when
the vast majority is able to safely attend. The final decision to come to
College can only be made by the individual student based on their
specific extenuating circumstances that may make it unsafe for them
to travel. During adverse weather, DMACC faculty is considerate of
students who are unable to attend classes due to unique extenuating
circumstances. It is the responsibility of each faculty member to notify
their students (in addition to their dean or provost) through some
predetermined means if they are must postpone or cancel a specific
class due to weather or illness.”

Students will be notified via DMACC email accounts in the event the
instructor cancels class. Students are responsible for checking the
DMACC website to see if the campus is closed for inclement
weather.

The work you submit must be your own. Any use of other sources
(websites, books, etc.) must be properly cited. Any incidents of
academic dishonesty will result in an automatic loss of all available
points for that assignment and the student will be reported for
