Sihota Stages Comeback at U.S. Kids Golf World Championship
Canadian claims wide-open Boys 8 division at Mid Pines Golf Club
PINEHURST, N.C. – Jeevan Sihota of Victoria, British Columbia, was the most consistent player in the
Boys 8 field, and it paid off with a U.S. Kids Golf World Championship title at Mid Pines Golf Club.
The World Championship is the largest junior golf tournament in the world. The three-day event was held
August 2-4, 2012, in Pinehurst and Southern Pines, N.C. The field was made up of over 1,200 players
from 39 countries. The Boys 8 division played the back nine of Mid Pines Golf Club at 2,088 yards.
Sihota’s three rounds were far from flashy, but consistency was crucial in a Boys 8 division where no
player went low all week. He carded four birdies and five bogeys on the week, and was never more than
one stroke over or under par for the tournament. He finished with a total of 1-over-par 109, one stroke
ahead of the competition.
Xi Pu of Chongquin, China, finished second at 2-over-par 110, after he bogeyed the final hole. Gavin
Aurilia of Phoenix, Shaheen Momin of Sugar Land, Texas, and Eric Klutke of Crystal Lake, Ill., tied for
third place at 3-over-par 111.
