Read Chapter 1: Basic Concepts, beginning with preface, and Appendix: Map Scale and Projections, pgs. A-1 – A-7. Take outline notes on the chapter and appendix. These notes may be typed or hand-written. Connect key ideas and their associated application. Use the key terms noted at the back of each chapter as a starting point. All of these key terms, and other concepts you feel are important, should be noted in this outline. **When creating your outline, be sure to give an example wherever you feel it is appropriate. When you take the APHG exam next May, there will be a number of questions, both multiple choice and free response, that will ask you to know the terms and also their application.
