The Gilded Age, Industrial Revolution, Urbanization, Westward
Expansion & Agricultural Revolution
1865-1899

In unit 8, students will study the impact of industry on
American politics, the transition from rural to urban
America, Native Americans and Westward
encroachment, and the impact of trains and
technology on agriculture.
Unit 9
Age of Empire, American Imperialism
1865- 1900

Days
In unit 9, students will study the impact of American
expansion overseas, the Spanish-American War, American
Conquest and Imperial practices of the late 1800s, and
Manifest Destiny on the World Stage.
Unit 10
The Progressive Era & World War I
1900-1920

Days
In unit 10, students will study the impact of the
expanding role of government in improving the daily life
of Americans; African-American culture and the struggle
for rights; labor; women, environment, and cities; and
the causes and consequences of World War.
Unit 11
Roaring 20s and the Politics of Boom and Bust
1920-1930
In unit 11, students will study the "Return to Normalcy"
politics of Presidents Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover;
The Age of Affluence; Laissez-faire economic policy; and
the moral/social/cultural shifts of the 1920s.

Unit 12
The Great Depression, New Deal and World War II
1929-1945
In unit 12, students will study the expanding role of
government; FDR's New Deal and alphabet reforms;
relief and recovery efforts; the transition from isolation
to full war effort; and the battles , timeline, causes, and
consequences of World War II.

Unit 13
Cold War America, Eisenhower Era and Civil Rights
1945-1960

Days
In unit 13, students will study Cold War Policy, the Iron
Curtain, the Truman Doctrine, the Eisenhower
presidency, the Korean War, McCarthyism,
Consumerism, Pop culture, and Civil Rights.
Unit 14
The 60s & 70s
1969-1979
In unit 14, students will study American
15 disillusionment, political struggles, Vietnam, Black Civil
Days Rights (Martin Luther, King, Jr. and Malcolm X), JFK's
arms race, LBJ's Great Society and Civil Rights, the
Nixon Scandal, Carter's Energy Crisis, and Stagflation.
Unit 15
The 1980s, 90s and Today
1980-present

In unit 15, students will study Reaganomics,
Conservatism, the end of the Cold War, the Bush Wars,
Days Clinton Democrats, NAFTA, Obama, Technology, and
Terrorism.
Unit 16
APUSH Exam Review
In unit 16, students will review for the AP College
Board Exam. In addition to five days of Exam
5 prepartions, students will participate in
Days weekend/evening review sessions . The test prep will
cover studyguides, review packets, online guided
reviews, and quizzes .
