FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICS AND PRECALCULUS 10:
COURSE OUTLINE
PRESCRIBED LEARNING OUTCOMES
It is expected that students will:
·
Use a variety of methods to solve real-life, practical, technical and theoretical problems.
·
Solve problems that involve linear measurement using SI and imperial units of measure.
·
Apply proportional reasoning to problems involving conversions between SI and imperial units.
·
Solve problems (using SI and imperial units) that involve the surface area and volume of 3-D objects.
·
Develop and apply the primary trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent) to solve problems that involve right
triangles.
·
Demonstrate an understanding of factors of whole numbers by determining prime factors, GCF, LCM, square
root, cube root.

Demonstrate an understanding of irrational numbers by representing, identifying, simplifying & ordering
radicals.

Demonstrate an understanding of powers with integral and rational exponents.

Demonstrate an understanding of the multiplication of polynomial expressions (monomials, binomials,
trinomials), concretely, pictorially, and symbolically.

Demonstrate an understanding of common factors and trinomial factoring.

Interpret and explain the relationships among data, graphs, and real-life situations.

Demonstrate an understanding of relations & functions, represent linear functions using function notation.
