Rob Allan is currently the Global Program Manager for supply
chain optimization, Transformation & Operations. In his current
role, he leads multiple projects focused on delivering function to
the enterprise operations teams to improve visibility of data and utilization of
analytics to improve effectiveness of operational teams. He is the engagement and
strategy lead for the Transparent Supply Chain project.
Rob Allan joined IBM in RTP, NC in 1988. He held positions in ergonomics,
procurement, and supply chain operations. In January of 1993 he was promoted to
senior manager over the South region non-production procurement operations. He
led an initiative to shift from regional procurement to national procurement
increasing IBM’s ability to leverage spend in achieving the best value for IBM on
commodities such as services labor, MRO, telecommunications, and office supplies.
Rob shifted to IT transformation in 1996 taking a program management role in
enabling outsourcing activities, implementing a corporate advanced planning
solution, and implementing a project called the Advanced Fulfillment Initiative that
took over $760M in inventory out of the PC Co’s supply chain. Rob was part of a
team from IBM that was awarded the prestigious Franz Edelman Award for
applications of operations research in May of 1999. In 2000 Rob accepted a senior
manager role on the SAP IT team leading a team of IT developers and project
managers deploying SAP procurement and Finance modules for IBM’s ERP. In 2010
Rob took a Delivery Project Executive role with IBM’s Procurement Services
consulting group and led engagements for multiple IBM clients over the next 3 years
resulting in overachieving against contractual commitments and securing bonuses
for IBM on both accounts he supported. Rob led bids and proposals for several
project pursuits. Rob has been in his current role since March of 2013. Rob has won
multiple management excellence awards and a division award for outstanding
customer service.
Rob holds a bachelor of science in nuclear engineering from the University of
Florida, a Masters of Engineering in mechanical engineering from the University of
South Carolina, and a Masters of Electrical Engineering from NC State University. He
is married, has two sons and lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
