Haque Alumni Association Larry Roher Entrepreneurial Achievement Award Recipient 2009-2010 Home Country: Pakistan High School: Crescent Model Higher Secondary School Class of 2010 Major/Intended Major: Computer Science Minor/Intended Minor: Business Management (Major GPA is 4.0; cumulative GPA is 3.99) Dean's List - Fall 06 - Present Honors include: National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowship (2009-10), Sigma Xi Excellence in Research Award (2010), Cascade Water Services Merit Based Scholar Goal/approach toward career: As a Computer Science undergraduate, I have devoted all my energies and resources to strive for knowledge, success and the well being of the community, and have been granted a Teaching Assistantship and a Research Assistantship for three and four semesters, respectively. My outstanding academic performance till now in the rigorous computer science program reflects my aptitude, learning capacity, hard work and goal-oriented devotion. I strongly believe that if I continue to work hard, I can bring about some positive changes that will contribute to the betterment not only of our generation, but also future generations. On the impact of this scholarship funding: Getting this award was really important for me to achieve both my personal and professional goals. I am honored to be part of Stony Brook’s great legacy. I have been trying my best not to leave any stone unturned in the hard work that I can put into my education and the well being of the Stony Brook community. This award will greatly aid me in obtaining my education and will allow me to concentrate more on my continuing studies without worrying about the financial aspects. Group Involvement/Extracurricular Activities: Business Leaders of Stony Brook - Webdeveloper Volunteer Work: Regularly helped students, especially freshmen, to adjust in Stony Brook community and to overcome their difficulties; Active involvement in the Stony Brook Computing Society, Linux Users Group at Stony Brook, and Business Leaders of Stony Brook; Active member of Golden Key International Honour Society and National Society of Collegiate Scholars; Organizer of cricket matches that I, along with my friends, used to arrange at Stony Brook; Active participant in volunteer relief work for the earthquake victims in Pakistan.
