ATTENTION: GRADUATE and PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS TEACHING ASSISTANT POSITIONS AVAILABLE COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS Fall 2011 Bachelor of Health Science Program Application Deadline is May 6, 2011 The Bachelor of Health Science Program is currently hiring graduate teaching assistants for the Fall, 2011 semester. Teaching assistants will facilitate their own labs in Therapeutic Communication Skills and lead several course activities in Leadership Skills and Styles, thus gaining hands-on teaching experience under faculty supervision throughout the semester. Instructors in several other health science courses (i.e., U.S. Health Care System, Human Development I, and Survey of Diseases and Disability) will also need teaching assistants to help with general course management, such as assisting with organizing course material and guest lecturers, developing and grading assignments and exams, posting and tracking assignments on the course web site, conducting library searches, and responding to student inquiries. All positions require the assistant to attend all course-related meetings as part of their position, including, but not limited to, all assigned lectures, labs, review sessions, and supervision meetings. If you are a graduate or professional student in good standing in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and are interested in applying for one of these positions, please submit your completed application to Katie Sharp via e-mail esharp@phhp.ufl.edu or in person (Dean’s Office, HPNP 4113) by May 6, 2011. A completed application form includes the Cover Sheet, statement on teaching experience and interest, and BHS Course Preferences sheet. All forms are included below. Deadline for the receipt of your application is May 6, 2011. Preference will be given to students who can cover more than one section or course so please make sure you rank order all of your coverage possibilities on your application. Courses with labs offer multiple sections so clearly state the lab times you can cover. For your reference, the Bachelor of Health Science Program Fall, 2011 schedules for juniors and seniors are posted on the BHS web site http://bahealthsci.phhp.ufl.edu/currentstudents/schedule.htm. Although these are schedule drafts until the Fall term begins, we anticipate very little, if any, change to this schedule. We assume that if you list a course or courses on your application, you can definitely serve as a teaching assistant for any and all times listed. Do not list a course for which you may have a conflict or are unsure you can cover. By applying for a position, you are agreeing to be available to TA at the times assigned to you from the course times you list on your TA application. This position pays a minimum of $12 per hour. Most full-time students will be selected to receive a waiver based on their assignment and qualifications. We will let you know after assignments are made whether you have been selected to receive a waiver, which are limited in number. Part-time students are eligible to apply to be an assistant but are not eligible for the waiver. We anticipate the positions will require 6-24 hours per week depending upon assignment. If you would like more information on the Bachelor of Health Science Program, please check out the BHS web site www.phhp.ufl.edu/bahealthsci/ . THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
