Alpha Capital
Shahin Shafiei, Tom Stratford, Violeta Peczulis, Richard Strauss
ROTMAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
All four members of the Alpha Capital group are in their final year in the Rotman
Commerce program at the University of Toronto, specializing in Finance and
Economics. Shahin has previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Rotman
School of Management. He completed an Investment Banking internship at Jacob
Securities this past summer, a boutique investment bank focusing on renewable
power. He enjoys playing professional sports and traveling. Tom is an avid musician
who plays in both the Engineering Jazz Band as a trumpet player and in his own rock
band. He will be returning to the Corporate Finance division at RBC Capital Markets
in Toronto, where he worked this past summer. Violeta has previously worked at
the Rotman Financial Research and Trading Lab and a boutique investment dealer
in Toronto. She joined RBC Capital Markets in their M&A group this past summer,
where she will be returning full-time. Richard enjoys playing a range of sports as
well as completing military-style obstacle courses (e.g. Tough Mudder) for fun.
Richard will be starting at Accenture as a Business Analyst in their Management
Consulting Development Program.

Tadeh Ghalustians, Kyle Priest, Paul Blennerhassett, Daniel Smith
TED ROGERS SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, RYERSON UNIVERSITY
Capital Markets Group consists of four young professionals completing their last
year at Ted Rogers School of Management. Daniel Smith has spent two years at
Scotiabank as an analyst within the Automotive Finance and Indirect Lending group
which oversees a $15 billion portfolio. Paul Blennerhassett has previously interned
as a consultant with a boutique venture capital firm. Assisting with corporate debt
issuance and M&A assignments, Tadeh Ghalustians is currently interning at a
private equity firm in Toronto. Kyle Priest has previously interned with IA Clarington
Investments and currently oversees the investment mandate at Ryerson’s Capital
Market Group.
Delta Capital
Hirsch Keshav, Cherry Xu, Sarah Barr, Gianfranco Perucho
SAUDER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
Delta Capital is made of up four undergraduate students at the Sauder School of
Business in UBC. Sarah is currently in her final year of the Finance option and is
attending the DAP program after graduating from Sauder. Following DAP she will be
working with KMPG, focusing primarily on the Financial Services and Real Estate
industries. Hirsch is a fourth year Accounting student. Prior to NIBC, Hirsch worked
as a Research Assistant in Sauder, studying correlations between credit default
swap trading and stock returns. Gianfranco and Cherry are both graduating from
the Finance option this year and contribute strong valuation and financial modelling
skills. Delta Capital is looking forward to this incredible opportunity to showcase
their skills and talents in investment banking.

A Few Good Men is a team of future finance professionals from Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan. All team members are well versed in the faction of corporate
finance and have independently indulged in the study of investment banking. The
team has extensive experience in case competitions and eagerly anticipates the
fabled crucible of NIBC. Academic excellence and financial fervency are prevalent
motivators that compel this team of amicable gentlemen to compete. Above all else
A Few Good Men sees NIBC as a great opportunity to apply and refine their skills,
as well as acquaint themselves with the investment banking industry from those who
know it best.

The Husky Dawgs Finance Group takes great pride in being the first team to
represent the University of Washington at the National Investment Banking
Competition 2013. This team consists of 4 senior undergraduate students: Minh
Le, Andre Dugaw, Brian Chance, and Griffin Phillips. They seek to leverage their
diverse backgrounds in finance, economics, operations management and previous
competition experience in order to maximize their synergy potential as a team and
to deliver top-notch results.

Jimmy Cheng, Louis Hong, John Liu, Wesley Liao
UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO
JT Marlin is very excited about participating in the 2013 Conference Finals. Their
team consists of four keen and driven students from University of Waterloo’s
Mathematics Faculty. Jimmy has previous worked at Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan
and pitched an idea to manage 19.8B worth of the fund’s portfolio. Louis has worked
as a staff accountant at KPMG and is a specialist in analyzing financial statements.
John has a strong background in capital markets from his experience on the trading
floor at TD Securities. Last but not least, Wesley worked in Portfolio Analytics and
Risk Management as a Business Analyst at Capital One. Together, they hope to
lever their diverse background in accounting and finance to help succeed at this
year’s competition.

Mustang Capital Partners comprises of business and engineering students from the
Richard Ivey School of Business and Western University. professional experience
includes internships in investment banking, investment management and financial
advisory at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deloitte, Evercore Partners, Goldman
Sachs, Mawer and Morgan Stanley in New York, Toronto and Calgary.

team appreciates the opportunity to compete in the final rounds of the 2013 National
Investment Banking Competition & Conference. #NAME? has an array of unique
experience including investment banking at Barclays Capital in Toronto, actuarial
consulting at AON in Vancouver, investment finance at OTPP in North York, and
investment & asset strategy at TD in Toronto. #NAME? looks forward to leveraging
their skills and knowledge along with their diverse work experience to compete with

OLIN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS
With three members, Olin Capital is excited to compete with and learn from our peers
at this year’s National Investment Banking Competition. Russell is a senior majoring
in Finance and International Business. He has experience in cross-border mergers
and acquisitions following an internship in Paris. Timothy is a junior majoring in
Finance and Chinese. He recently completed an internship with technology startup CivicScience in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daniel is a junior studying Finance
and Economics. This summer he interned in private equity at a family office, valuing
leveraged investments and improving portfolio companies. The team is eager to
apply its knowledge and proud to represent the Olin Business School student body.

Charles Kim, Oltan Akin, Jake Liu, Lance Ho
MCDONOUGH SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY
Team Potomac Advisors consists of four undergraduate students from Georgetown
University. Charles Kim is a sophomore at Georgetown’s McDonough School of
Business double majoring in Finance and OPIM, and is originally from Pasadena,
California. He is currently an intern at the Alternate Investments Division of the
American Red Cross Endowment and Retirement Systems Investment Team. Oltan
Akin is a sophomore at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business double
majoring in Finance and OPIM, and is originally from Fredericksburg, Maryland. He
is currently the portfolio manager of the Consumer and Retail Sector of Georgetown
University’s Largest Student Investment Fund with over $400,000 AUM. Oltan was
also a summer intern at PriceWaterhouseCooper’s Management Consulting Division.
Yuchen (Jake) Liu is a junior at Georgetown’s College of Arts and Sciences double
majoring in Biology and Economics, and is originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland.
He was a summer research assistant at the Georgetown Medical School. Yi-Hsien
(Lance) Ho is a sophomore at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business double
majoring in Finance and Management, and is originally from Taipei, Taiwan. He
was a summer contract research assistant at the Chung-Hua Institute of Economic
Research, a top Taiwanese Economic Think-Tank.

Six Sigma
Michael Tsui, Julie Shin, Cindy Lynn, Tony Liu
SAUDER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
Six Sigma Group is comprised of four driven students from the Sauder School of
Business with diverse backgrounds in Finance, Accounting, and Economics. Tony
Liu has worked at TD as an advisor where he became the youngest individual to win
the bank’s highest award, and also won 1st place in a 300 student stock competition.
Cindy Lynn has worked in treasury and risk management at BC Hydro, and has
conducted credit analysis on industrial clients. Julie Shin has worked at a hedge
fund and Korea Investment Management where she looked into the transportation
and consumer goods industry. Michael Tsui has worked at Deloitte’s Audit Practice
serving mining, consumer product, and energy clients. The Six Sigma Group looks
forward to apply its expertise to this competition.
Team Ivey

RICHARD IVEY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO
Team Ivey consists of three 4th-year students from the Richard Ivey School of
Business who are genuinely passionate about the financial services industry. Linda
has previously interned as a Private Equity Analyst at Leonard Green & Partners in
Los Angeles and an Investment Banking Analyst at TD Securities in Toronto. Jing
has worked as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Macquarie Hong Kong
and is familiar with fundamentals about the real estate industry. Sid has worked
as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst in Greenhill’s Toronto office and has
had experience with the mining industry. Team Ivey thinks NIBC is a great learning
opportunity and is looking forward to meeting all finalists in Vancouver.

Larry Tang, Stefano Solari, John Lu, Oliver Zhang
THE WHARTON SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
The UPenn team comprises of four juniors representing the Wharton School and
the University of Pennsylvania. Larry is studying finance, marketing, and operations
and information management. John Lu is studying material science, marketing and
finance. Oliver Zhang is studying Economics, Health & Societies, and Statistics
and has previously worked in an investment banking firm, Echelon Partners, and a
private equity firm, ICG Group. Stefano Solari is studying Economics, Mathematics,
and Statistics and has experience working at a fund of funds in addition to a real
estate investment firm.

Utes Capital
Bao Nguyen, Thania Burningham, Arthur Jessop, Andres Lancheros
DAVID ECCLES SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY OF UTAH
Utes Capital is comprised of four undergraduate students from the University of
Utah. Bao is completing a degree in finance and has gained valuable experiences
through various internships in risk management and private equity. Thania is a
junior majoring in finance, she is currently one of 16 students chosen as a portfolio
manager in University Student Investment Fund which currently has $200,000 under
management. Arthur is a senior majoring in finance and currently interning as an
analyst for the endowment fund at the University of Utah which oversees $560 million.
Andres is a first year student in the Business Scholars program at the University of
Utah and is majoring in finance and economics with a minor in mathematics. Utes
Capital looks forward to applying their knowledge and experiences gained in the
classroom and internships to compete with top teams in the National Investment
Banking Competition.
Voyte Capital
Andy Bath, Connor Buss, Adrian Siy-Yap, Ryan McCutcheon
BEEDIE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
All members of Voyte Capital were chosen earlier this year to manage Canada’s
largest undergraduate student run portfolio, the Beedie Endowment Asset
Management (BEAM) fund with $5MM AUM. In addition, Connor Buss, a third year
Finance and Economics student, provides valuation experience through his analyst
position at a small business valuation firm. He is also the President of SFU’s Finance
Club. Adrian Siy-Yap, a third year Finance and Economics student, brings a strong
analytical skill set developed from his time as a BEAM analyst and competing in
case competitions across North America. Andy Bath, a fourth year Finance and
Accounting student, sharpened his analytical skills during his co-op work term in
Research In Motion’s treasury department. This summer, he looks forward to starting
his career as a Finance Analyst with Procter & Gamble. Ryan McCutcheon, a third
year Finance and Entrepreneurship student, provides strong public speaking and
idea generation skills gained from significant case competition exposure and will be
broadening his skill set by studying on exchange at ESCP Europe next year.

The All-Nighters
Hani Abouchahine, Alena Vinogradova, Max Lenarciak, Justin Persaud
JOHN MOLSON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
Alena brings a diverse, international perspective to the team; she recently came
to Canada from Russia, where she was a successful entrepreneur. She is currently
interning with a Toronto based hedge fund. Max attended Harvard University and The
American University of Rome for his undergraduate studies, attaining a Bachelor of
Science. He is the Chief Investment Officer of Goodman Institute Fund Management
where he is the Portfolio Manager of the program’s flagship Canadian Equity
Income Portfolio and Co-Manager of the program’s Global Macro Fund. He interned
at DundeeWealth over the summer before becoming an Analyst in the fall. Justin
graduated from Ryerson University with a B.Comm, Finance. He is Co-Manager of
Goodman Institute Fund Management’s Global Macro Fund. He worked for RBC
and Mackenzie Financial prior to pursuing his MBA. Hani graduated from Dalhousie
University with a B.Comm, Finance. He’s completed four internships spanning his
diverse interests in finance. All team members are second year students and Level
II CFA Candidates.

ROTMAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
Justin Bilechuk, Jan Brand, Helen Kei Cheung, and Jean-Philippe Garant are firstyear students in the Masters of Financial Economics (MFE) Program at the University
of Toronto – a collaborative program between the Rotman School of Management
and the Department of Economics. Prior to the MFE, Justin received a degree in
Economics from McMaster University, Jan received a Joint Honours degree in
Economics & Finance from McGill University, Helen worked as a summer intern for
the Hong Kong firm Prime Investment Group LTD, and JP received a First-Class
Honours degree in Economics from McGill University.

Jeremy Lin, Lane Theriault, Jay Burke, Gaurav Bhide
ROTMAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
Lane has worked as an Investment Advisor for Scotia McLeod in Calgary prior
to attending Rotman. He recently spent his summer in the investment banking
department at Citigroup, and will be returning there at the end of his studies.
Gaurav spent four years as a computer engineer with AMD, where he earned his
professional designation. He completed a summer internship in Equity Research
with BMO Capital Markets, and will return to join the Investment Banking team
upon graduation. This past summer, Jay worked at UBS as an associate on the
institutional equities desk in both a sales and trading capacity. Prior to this role, Jay
spent 2 years working in a commodities brokerage firm based in Toronto. Jeremy
has worked as an equities trader at a U.S. proprietary trading firm based in Las
Vegas prior to attending Rotman. He recently spent his summer in the Real Estate
group at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

SCHELLER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS, GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
GT Capital Advisors is made up of four individuals in their first year of the Georgia
Tech Scheller College of Business MBA Program. As a small business owner, Chris
brings the perspective of an entrepreneur, with developed skills and experience
in a diverse range of industries including engineering, commercial real estate,
manufacturing, sales, marketing, and distribution. John brings four years of
experience in financial services with a focus most recently on consumer credit
risk modeling. Malcolm is a polymer engineer by degree and brings three years of
experience in the lubricants industry in roles ranging from supply chain to sales.
Josh has three years of experience providing equity research and has completed
the three CFA exams.
The Masters of Finance
Truman Chen, Kedar Rindani, Lindsay Sinclair, Todd Mackenzie
ROTMAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO
Truman Chen, Todd Mackenzie, Kedar Rindani and Lindsay Sinclair are students in
the Master of Finance (MFin) program at Rotman School of Management. Truman is
a manager in the Valuation and Business Modelling group at Ernst & Young. Todd
is an analyst serving high net worth clients at one of Canada’s largest investment
dealers. Kedar is a Chartered Accountant (CA) by professional training and has
worked at Ernst & Young servicing Banking and Capital Markets clients. He is
currently part of a bank wide rotational program at TD Bank. Lindsay works in sales
and trading at Deutsche Bank where she provides fixed income and derivative
solutions to institutional clients. Truman, Todd and Lindsay are CFA charterholders.
The team is excited about the opportunity of competing with other high caliber
teams at NIBC 2013.
Misers
Graeme Millen, Greg Macdonald, David Tiedje, Lewis Peattie
SAUDER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
Originally from the UK, Lewis has a diverse background in education and consulting
and has recently completed a summer internship with Bain & Company in Stockholm.
David is a Professional Engineer with a background in Construction Management,
and recently joined RBC Global Asset Management in fund operations. With a
background in medical technology, Greg recently completed an internship as a
Financial Analyst at Hecla Mining, a silver producer. Graeme spent 5 years with a
cleantech start-up prior to working in corporate development with Teck Resources.
QSB Capital
Can Wang, David Marshall, Harp Dhaliwal, Geoffrey Wong
QUEEN’S SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY
QSB Capital is comprised of four exceptional MFin students with diverse
backgrounds. Can Wang has completed a double masters of management degree
from Aston University of England and EM Lyon in France. She has worked as an
analyst in portfolio management and private placement investments. Geoffrey Wong
received his bachelor’s degree from University of Waterloo with a double major
in Biotechnology and Economics. He has completed internships in a variety of
industries including non-profit, RIM, CGI Group and TD Securities. Harp Dhaliwal is
currently working as a cost estimator for an aerospace conglomerate and is a BBA
graduate with distinction from the University of Toronto. Dave Marshall is a Summa
Cum Laude finance graduate from York University with a diverse background
spanning entrepreneurship, accounting, mining finance, and operational roles.

Wei (David) Guo, Mudassir (Modi) Mohammad, Ashkan Fakhary, Jialiang (Kevin) Qiu
QUEEN’S SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY
QSB Securities comprises of four talented individuals completing their final
semester of Master of Finance program at Queen’s School of Business. Modi has
been working as a database analyst with State Street Global Advisors (SSgA). He
is responsible for managing consultant relationships and supporting the senior
marketing team with various activities. Ashkan has a background in import/export
and he is currently working on his start-up company. David has worked at Birks and
Mayors as a corporate finance analyst. He has experience in financial statement
analysis, conducting due diligence, and working with boutique investment banks to
raise new capital. Kevin has worked at BMO and HSBC Securities as an analyst. He
recently joined TD Securities as an analyst and is responsible for reviewing complex
derivatives transactions.

Talal Al Jandali, Mo Nikjoo, Irshad Khan, Varun Mehrotra
SCHULICH SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, YORK UNIVERSITY
Talal Al Jandali has a Bachelor Degree from Saint Mary’s University with a double
major in Finance and Human Resources and a minor in computer science. He is
also a CFA level 3 candidate. He has over 6 years of buy side experience covering
emerging markets analyzing mainly equities. Mo Nikjoo has a PhD from University
of Toronto in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is the VP of Schulich
Investment Banking Club and has worked at BMO as summer intern. Irshad Khan
has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University and has
attained the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation. He has spent over 5 years
working in Foreign Exchange Sales and Trading both in Australia and Canada. Upon
completing his MBA he will be joining CIBC World Markets in their Capital Markets
Trading Rotational Program. Varun Mehrotra is a Chartered Accountant with over
7 years of experience in Investment Banking and Private Equity. Before joining
Schulich, he has raised a USD 515 mn PE fund along with ex. Managing Partner of
Citi PE in India.

Raymond Lam, Wen Lei, Iffat Kashif, Jiten Mistry

Rotman WRIJ Investments is comprised of four individuals from the Master of Finance
(MFin) program at the Rotman School of Management. Raymond has over four years
of experience in investment consulting and manager research at Manulife Financial,
advising on more than $40 billion in assets. Jiten has over three years of experience
in structuring mid-market corporate finance deals at BMO Financial Group with
specialization across multiple industries. Iffat has over 12 years of experience in
asset management with expertise in emerging markets. Her most recent positions
include Executive Director, Strategy & Business Development and Chief Investment
Officer at BMA Asset Management. Wen has more than six years of capital market
risk and valuation experience. She currently leads an Asset Liability Management

NIBC
Founded in 2007, the National Investment Banking Competition & Conference
(NIBC) is an established organization which brings together students from
40 universities and over 130 professionals in an annual case competition
and
which run parallel to each other. This year’s Competition,

which has drawn over 150 teams comprised of 588 Undergraduate and
MBA students, will culminate in the Final Round in January 2013, during
which 300 students will be attending the Conference. With the assistance
of a committed Board of senior finance professionals, NIBC has become
the most comprehensive investment banking competition and conference
catered to students in North America and serves as one of the best
opportunities to learn about investment banking and the capital markets.
