GCSE Italian Level of Italian needed to begin course No previous knowledge of Italian is necessary. However, some previous knowledge of Italian, eg NOCN Level 1 or 2, is most advisable. This is a fairly intensive and express course, which covers the AQA GCSE syllabus in 1 year. Course Length 30 weeks Course Content The course covers the language needed to cope with a range of everyday situations which might arise during a visit to Italy or when hosting a visit from Italian friends (eg asking for and giving directions, getting information at the tourist office, checking into a hotel, travelling, shopping, eating out) and develops general conversational skills (talking about ourselves, our families, interests, jobs, studies, etc). Listening and reading comprehension skills are also developed. Though grammar is not a major part of the course, we do look at the basic workings of the language. New language is reinforced and practised during the conversation sessions, using games, structured roleplay dialogues and other activities. In the lead up to the examination these sessions will be used to help you to prepare for the oral assessment. Please note that this is an examination course.
