Workplace Communication Training On-site Skill Development for Workers Effective communication in the workplace has a number of benefits for a company and can have a positive impact on their bottom-line profitability. Literacy and Numeracy are just two of the elements that contribute to effective workplace communication which includes listening skills, critical thinking, teamwork and efficiency in the workplace. If you are finding that you are experiencing some of the following issues in your workplace, WelTec’s Workplace Communication programme can make a positive difference. ISSUES CAN BE: Written or spoken instructions not carried out? LEARNER PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS Hold NZ Citizenship or Permanent Residency Paperwork not completed as required? Procedures not followed? Be employed in paid work Not be participating in full time education Significant re-work required and wasted time? Employees not contributing to problem solving, team work and company meetings? Not be participating in an ITO embedded Literacy and Numeracy project or Workplace Employee Targeted Funding Undertake an initial skill needs assessment and meet TEC training needs requirements Volunteer for the training. PARTICIPATING IN A WELTEC PROGRAMME WILL: Provide you with an analysis of the workers skill level Provide a training programme specifically for your workplace Deliver training on-site or off-site to suit you Raise the work relevant skills of all workers, not just those involved in the programme Provide you with progress reports and track the impact of the training Help workers achieve industry qualifications Provide access to government training subsidies. WelTec provides qualified and experienced staff to identify skill gaps, upskill workers, evaluate progress and provide information to management. PROGRAMME FEE This programme is supported by the Workplace Literacy Fund within the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). Tutor time is free to learners and employers. Employers and learners will provide their time voluntarily. Each learner is required to participate for 40 hours of learning plus assessment time to be eligible for TEC funding. DURATION, START DATES AND LOCATION Programme commencement date by negotiation with the company. Location is usually at the place of work. COMPANY’S COMMITMENT TO THE PROGRAMME Provide time for learners to participate in the Assessment and Learning process Wherever possible provide training venues on-site Recognise that Workplace Literacy and Numeracy will improve the company’s efficiency Work with WelTec’s Workplace Learning Specialists to develop a customised learning programme for the workplace.
