THE RIGHT WAY TO SAY IT…






Do not say this is what we are doing today…instead say this is what we are learning today.
Do not ask your son/daughter what they did at school…instead ask “What did you learn at
school”?
Do not conclude a lesson by saying “We are done” or “That is it”…instead say “We have to
stop although there is much more to learn. We will have to save the learning for
tomorrow”.
Do not say that “We are going to cover World War I today”…instead say that “We are
going to learn about World War I today”. Cover has nothing to do with learning.
A classroom can have activities and discipline, but that does not mean that the students
are learning.
Do not use the word activity…instead use the words experiment, experience, or explore.
