TechTip #13 – Hotmail Users (Hotmail e‐mail users)
NB: If you have upgraded to Windows Live Hotmail, these special instructions no
longer apply.
SYMPTOMS
You are not able to use an eTicket that has been sent to you. You receive an “invalid
ID number error” or similar.
CAUSE
Hotmail e‐mail accounts do not run in a browser window – a ‘design feature’ of
Microsoft. Online testing requires a browser session to access the service (eg Firefox,
Internet Explorer, etc)
WORKAROUND
1. Copy the entire SkillCheck eTicket number sent to you. Be certain you have
copied the entire number – sometimes it will “wrap” to a second line.
2. Close Hotmail and open Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Browser.
3. Navigate to http://www.skillcheck.com.au/online_login.htm (that is
online_login.htm)
4. Enter your eTicket number in the box shown on the login screen in the “Take a
Test” section on the centre right of this web page.
5. Then Click “Enter” to take a test.
