Both levels should have:
3 ring binder, (5 min) dividers, pens (we often color code so
always have a basic blue or black but other colors as extra are
great), pencils, highlighters, eraser, portable little pencil
sharpener (I don't have nor want one in my room)
for Spanish II only- (VERY IMPORTANT)
- about 500 index cards for the whole year (we use about 100
per chapter) and a ZIP-LOG baggie that will hold about 50
cards at a time.
Spanish II's will also need one manila file folder - standard
size with no designs (we will be making a study aide with
this)

 Rubber sole shoes with low heel for work (tennis
shoes.)
 Solid color long pants and modest shirt with a collar
for internship day. (1 day per week.)
 NO SHORTS will be permitted until May term, so
student should not plan on wearing them regularly.
(We do this because most jobs require employees to
wear pants. If a student wishes to wear skirts, they
should be knee length OR longer.)
 Case management with DRS
 Case management with Horizon Behavioral Health or
LACIL (As appropriate).
 A personal cell phone (This has been a very valuable
tool for most students. Many of our students qualify
for free cell phone service. If cost is a concern, please
ask about this opportunity.).
 An amount of money to budget for spending (At least
$5 per week is suggested. A prepaid debit card is a
great way to manage this and teach responsible
spending without the risk of using a debit card
directly attached to a larger bank account.).
 Access to a certified birth certificate and an original
Social Security Card (Employment offers may be
withdrawn if these documents are not readily
available and they are often difficult to replace.).
 Proof of SSI or SSDI award (IF you receive these
benefits. The Social Security office can provide this if
you do not have a current copy. The information will
be kept in confidence and is used in a student’s life
skills courses.)
 Proof of Medicaid eligibility and/or private health
insurance.
