Genesee County Prosecutor's Office David Leyton, Prosecutor Three in custody for pizza delivery shooting, police looking for fourth suspect By Dana DeFever | The Flint Journal April 10, 2010 FLINT, Michigan — Genesee County Prosecutors said today three Flint teenagers are being charged with first degree murder in connection with the killing of a pizza delivery man. John Fitzgerald Williams Jr., 17, of Flint, Juwan Antione Wickware, 16, of Flint, and Quantageah Nashay Penegar, 16, of Flint, are in custody and could face life in prison. Authorities are looking for a fourth suspect, Antonio Terreno Clark, 16. On Wednesday, Michael Nettles, 33, died after shot multiple times after stopping to try to deliver a Little Caesars pizza about 9 p.m. near the corner of Sonny Avenue and Sterling Street. “This was an out-and-out ambush by these individuals. There was absolutely no reason to take anybody’s life in cold blood. This is as heinous a crime as we’ve had in my two terms as prosecuting attorney,” said Prosecutor David Leyton said. Each of the 16-year-olds are being charged as an adult. The suspects are being charged with first-degree premeditated murder and felony murder, both carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, both carry a maximum life in prison with the possibly of parole, and felony firearm, which is a mandated two-year sentence consecutive to any other sentence. Leyton said Nettles handed the pizza to the suspects, was told to leave and as he walked back to his vehicle, he was shot multiple times in the back. Leyton said Penegar is believed to have placed a phone call to Little Caesars ordering a pizza and stromboli, using Wickware’s cell phone. Clark and Wickware are believed to be the two shooters, he said. Leyton said they believe the suspects are affiliated with the Merrill Hood gang. “We know these individuals like to strut around and show their weapons and they think they’re young thugs,” he said. “That type of behavior can result in something like this. That’s the danger of gang membership.” Leyton said there was somebody who was in Nettle’s vehicle, who witness what happened. Leyton said his heart goes out to Nettles’ family. ###
