Dr. Mikee Delony (PhD in Medieval and Victorian
Literature and Film, University of Houston) is an
Associate Professor of English in the Department of
Language and Literature at ACU. Her teaching and scholarly interests include mythology, Robin Hood and Arthurian studies, and medieval literature, especially Chaucer.
ENGL 481/581: Medieval Literature: Chaucer and
Traveling the Road to Canterbury – This intensive three-week Medieval Literature course will focus on
Geoffrey Chaucer’s most famous literary achievement, The
Canterbury Tales. We will read his tales as well as study the biography of Chaucer, court poet and important advisor to three fourteenth-century British kings. In addition to our time in Oxford, we will we visit medieval sites and museums in London, Rochester, and Canterbury and trace the Canterbury pilgrims’ travels from the Tabard Inn in Southwark to Canterbury Cathedral. This course is designed for English majors or minors and English graduate students and will satisfy “Literature before 1700” or General Literature requirements.

The program fee of $3,200 includes:
• Housing in Oxford for the duration of the program.
• Program-related field trips and enrichment activities (including museum entrance fees, tour fees, theatre tickets, etc.).
• A few meals over the course of the program.
• Basic medical and travelers' insurance.
As this is a graduate/upper-level program, it is understood students are able to handle own transportation, so please be aware the fee does not include round-trip airfare to London and ground travel to Oxford.
Acceptance to this particular ACU study abroad program is based on a variety of factors including:
• Completed application (including reference forms).
• Availability of space.
• $250 non-refundable application fee
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 as of date of application and up to date of departure.
• Students must be in good standing with ACU (no probation of any kind) up to date of departure.
• At least 60 hours of college credit up to date of departure.
Note: Preference will be given to graduate and upper-level undergrad students. Consideration also will be given to a student’s suitability for participation in a study abroad program.
