Instructor: Marie Lamb 3rd & 4th Grades Countries, Cultures Exploring Countries and Cultures (based on My Father's World Curriculum) - This class will be an enrichment study, filling in a "passport" and giving an overview of the world mainly through geography, science (ecosystems and animals), and global art. *No materials necessary, but if you choose to use this curriculum study for the year at home, we'll be tracking the order and pace in class with this study. Instructor: Karla Myers 5th & 6th Grades Science Science experiments involving electricity, magnetism, chemical reactions, and anatomy. There is a $5 dollar fee for this class. World Cultures & Geography You will be taking a fast trip around the world and getting an opportunity to explore the diverse people and places on the seven continents. You will learn about their cultures while getting a better understanding of the geography and history of the world thru a variety of activities such as mapping, researching, group projects, interviews and food tasting. I will supply each student with an organized 1-inch binder. Class time will consist of highlighting a person and creating a personal timeline that also includes other world events. This is an introduction to plants, anatomy, weather, cells, classification, and insects. Students will be expected to read chapters at home and answer questions from the chapter. We will do some of the experiments from the chapter in class and some experiments will be assigned as homework. Tests will be given on the material in the chapters. Instructor: Marie Lamb 9th-12th Grades Exploring World History Pt. 2 The Renaissance to the Present (Ray Notgrass) - The class format will be a brief reading from In Their Words (a collection of primary source writings) and the Bible study for the unit as an introduction, followed by guided, independent working through the text and answering curriculum quiz questions. Anything not finished in class should be completed at home for the following week. The breakdown will be two lessons per week with a unit exam every third week. For an additional literature credit, select books that coordinate with the study, named in the curriculum, can be worked on at home. Required Materials 1. Instructor: Kimberly Foreman Chemistry Chemistry will be presented from a Christian perspective with insight into Creation, knowledge of the beginning, goals of Science, conservative conservation, and foundational truths. Students will have weekly assignments to reinforce classroom teaching. This is a high school class with expectations and will be graded accordingly. A syllabus will be handed out on the first day of class. Video labs will be incorporated and some hands on experiments will take place. Required Material – 1. Students will need to pay an additional lab fee of $10 for this class payable to SAGE and PAGE. We will have virtual labs, Microscope use and hands on animal dissections. This will not be a class for the weak in stomach! Students may also want to have their own apron to wear during dissections beginning in December. Biology Lecture This high school Biology course will be presented from a Christian prospective as we study the brilliant order and design of God's creation. Students will be given weekly assignments and a syllabus to guide them into more self discipline and dependability. Grades will be given in accordance to these standards. Needed Materials: 1. Highlighter Instructor: Vernita Conner Personal Finance This course by watching short video lessons featuring Dave Ramsey and his team of experts, using on-line resources, and participating in a variety of group exercises will develop students understanding and skills in areas such as money management, budgeting, financial goal attainment, the wise use of credit, insurance, investments, and consumer rights and responsibilities. Thru the various teaching methods students will analyze their personal financial decisions, evaluate the costs and benefits of their decisions, and apply the knowledge learned to financial situations encountered later in life. Instructor: Suzette Corey WORLD GEOGRAPHY What in the world is going on? We will gain a perspective as we pursue learning about the physical geography of Earth, as well as cultural aspects. Current events will be shared by the students consistently to keep us in tune with how things all tie together. Those completing this class for a high school credit will also complete a two to three page paper. Required Materials 1.
