Art (9th -12th): This is an elective! Study of colors, composition, form, value, balance, pattern, texture,
perspective, shading, lighting, hatching, symmetry; Projects: people, faces, still life, animals, origami; Medium:
stippling, drawing, charcoal, watercolor, oil paint and pastels; two-dimensional and three-dimensional
Music (9th -12th Together): This is primarily a performance class and it is mandatory for all
students! Students prepare 1-3 selections and perform for PTO 3-4 times a year. They also prepare and perform a
Spring Musical. Included: Solos, Rhythmic Movement/Percussion, dance, sign language, and drama
Weight Training: This in an elective course. Students rotate work-outs on four different universal
weight machines. Students who are not on weight rotation work on basketball drills that are assigned by the coach.

Computer Technology(;Shelly Cashman Series, Microsoft
Office 2003 Course 1): This is a required elective to be taken before graduation preferably in 9th or
10th grade. Students will cover Identification of hardware and their function, software, Internet, World Wide Web,
Purchase and computer maintenance, Microsoft Windows XP Operating Systems, Desktop management, Keyboard
shortcuts, Windows Explorer, Expanding and Displaying folders/files, Copying, Moving Renaming, Deleting, “Help”,
Microsoft Office 2003: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Creating and Editing in Word, Research Paper: MLA
style, Creating a Resume, Power Point Presentation
Computer Keyboarding (7th Grade):
Mavis Beacon Application Software Program:
The program includes a number of speed tests and constantly tracks the user's words-per-minute typing speed. It also
includes a number of typing games of which some versions have been included since the first release. A certificate of
achievement is printed by the user upon the completion of tests. Also used is assignment from the Abeka Keyboarding
Text.
Yearbook (9th – 12th):
This is an elective. Yearbook is a Computer-based class in which students
create the school yearbook from design to production through Josten’s website. Students are required to follow
journalistic principals that are formulated by professional journalistic societies. Students utilize skills in photography,
journalism, computer graphics, and sells.
