Guide for Members Transferring from the Standby Reserve
(SR) to the Active Reserve (AR) Version Dec 14
The aim of this guide is to inform you about the requirements for a transfer from the
Standby Reserve (SR) to the Active Reserve (AR).
1.
Contact the Reserve Unit you are interested to join. Please take this guide with you to
the AR unit you wish to join. The Unit will assist you complete the necessary forms.

If experiencing difficulty finding a Reserve unit, you can locate a unit in your area
using the following website: http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/army/reserve/jobs/

The following forms require completion, with the assistance of the AR unit:
a.
PE166-3 – Application for Transfer between the Active and Standby Reserves complete sections 1 and 2 of the PE 166-3.
UNITS PLEASE NOTE: The unit is only required to fill in and sign Page 1 of PE166-3.
Please ensure you provide a vacant APN on the top right hand side as indicated in the
example PE166-3 (below). All other sections will be completed by DPSRM-A.
b.
AD 385 Statutory Declaration: detailing any civilian or military convictions past,
present or pending, or if none, state ‘NIL convictions’. An appropriate service member can
certify the document.
c.
Army Standby Reserve Annual Contact Details and Health Declaration Form. Only
required if you have not updated your contact details with DPSRM-A within the last 12
months.
Corps and Trade transfers:
d.
PE166-1 Application for Corps or Trade Transfer or Re-allocation – Army: Only
required if seeking a trade transfer.
e.
PS006 Mental Health/Psychological Report: Some Corps transfers require you to
undergo a suitability assessment. DPSRM –A will inform you if this is a requirement for
your chosen Corps.
When these forms have been completed and an APN identified, please email to:
standby.reserve@defence.gov.au.
Officers transfers: Prior to commencing an application you are required to contact your
local Career Advisory Group (CAG). For contact details for your local CAG contact
