LRD Frequently Asked Questions
• Why can’t my customer just use a screw-in LED lamp?
– Screw-in’s are designed for lower lumen wattages and are used in
residential applications
– Thermal management system isn’t sophisticated enough for higher
lumen packages
• What is the difference between a remodel and a retrofit?
– Remodel requires alteration to the ceiling
– Retrofit installs from below ceiling and does not require any alteration
– Retrofit is a much cleaner, simpler, and more cost effective solution
• What does L70 stand for?
– L70 is designation in industry for rated life of LEDs
– Stands for when LED unit has lost 30% of its rated life
– Theoretically LEDs can last much longer than L70 designation
