Powerpoint/prezi/slides assignment for Friday, October 16

Task: Make a character analysis of one of the characters in The Crucible.

Objective: Analyze a character from The Crucible using text, adjectives, images, and a summarizing message to the reader.

Slides should contain the following. Each section is worth 20 points:

1.

3 images from google images or another source that clearly display plot events – the images should be accompanied by two things: 1. A short quotation from the text as a connection and 2. Explanation of the event that is happening in your own words

2.

5 adjectives that describe the chosen character with text evidence. These adjectives are created by you, the reader – the adjectives should be accompanied by a quote from the text that demonstrates support for the chosen adjective.

3.

One half page composition written from the point of view of the chosen character that is directed to the reader of the story – the point of the writing is to write a character summary, briefly explaining what you (the character) are like and the underlying reasons for your development and outcome Use first person point of view for this writing.

4.

1 image of a modern day figure in popular culture that represents the chosen character from the text – the image should be accompanied by a brief (5-6 sentence) paragraph which explains the connection between the two characters; please be sure to include the similarities between the characters using text from the novel and appropriate information from modern culture i.e. news articles, gossip magazine articles, etc…

2 meaningful quotes from the character – 1.the quotes must communicate a deeper understanding of the character and his or her background – and 2. an explanation of the deeper understanding that is communicated to the reader.

Guidelines:

1.

Slides should be neat and free from spelling and grammar mistakes

2.

This assignment is a MAJOR assessment so appropriate time and thought should be given to this assignment.

3.

Five hours total is an appropriate amount of time to spend on this assignment.
