Sojourner Family Peace Center is an Equal Opportunity employer and service provider operating under an Affirmative Action and Civil Rights Plan. Yo u a r e n o t a lo n e Programs and services Individual Case Management Advocates can help assess each client’s needs and provide one-on-one counseling or make appropriate referrals, such as behavioral and mental health, special needs, and other community programs. Sojourner Family Peace Center offers a variety of services provided by our community resource advocates. We offer advocacy, support and case management to victims of domestic violence. All groups and services are available free of charge. Our Advocates work with individuals and families to help support them in leading a life free of violence by: • Providing linkages to community resources. • Assisting in developing long term safety plans. • Engaging victims in support and counseling programs. • Assisting victims in meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare and financial sufficiency. • Providing crisis one-on-one counseling. For more information about Adult Case Management services please call 414-276-1911 Advocates also help parents whose children have been victims of domestic violence or have witnessed abuse in their home by helping parents support their children, get the services and counseling they both need, and teach them how best to advocate for their children in various systems. Safe Mom, Safe Baby Case management services are tailored to meet the specific needs of pregnant women who experience violence during the pregnancy and up to six months post partum. In addition to case management services, a community resource advocate and a nurse case manager work in partnership to help ensure the pregnant mother’s safety in the health care setting and that she receives prenatal care. Support Groups Through our Child Witness to Domestic Violence program, we offer group support and education to mothers of children who have been victims of physical or sexual abuse or who have witnessed domestic violence. The Parenting Education Enrichment & Resources (PEER) program offers group programming for women whose children are involved in the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare. Women involved in the initial assessment, safety services or ongoing case management programs may be eligible to participate in this group. Legal Referrals In collaboration with Legal Action of Wisconsin, Sojourner Family Peace Center provides legal referrals for eligible clients for matters such as restraining orders, child custody and placement, child support, public benefits and housing issues.
