This drama, comedy and romance is a touching story about two people who, at the end of the road, discover that it’s never too late to love… or to dream. Elsa has lived for the past 60 years dreaming of a moment that Fellini had already envisaged: the scene in 'La Dolce Vita' at the Fontana di Trevi. The same scene without Anita Ekberg in it, but with Elsa instead. Without Marcello Mastroianni but with that love that took so long to arrive. POLISH DRAMA FILM Thursday, Feb. 19th. Raquel Alfaro presents: "Ida" (2013) by Pawel Pawlikowski. Anna, a young novitiate nun in 1960s Poland, is on the verge of taking her vows when she discovers a dark family secret dating back to the years of the Nazi occupation. CHINESE DRAMA FILM Thursday, Feb. 26th. Yuanyuan Lin presents: “Farewell My Concubine” chronicles the lives of two Beijing opera performers and a courtesan that comes into their lives through China’s social and political upheaval during the Japanese invasion, the civil war, the great leap forward and the cultural revolution. Using the lives of the three main characters, this movie tells the story of China and Chinese people from the 1920’s all the way through to the 1970’s. MEXICAN BLACK COMEDY FILM Tuesday, March 10th. Peter Imoro presents: “A Wonderful World: Un mundo maravilloso” (2006), a Mexican movie directed by Luis Estrada. A black comedy featuring Damían Alcazar as Juan Perez, a poor man who is mistakenly thought of as a hero among the poor when he is thought of as attempting to jump off a building as a protest against the government for their handling of the poor. FRENCH–BELGIAN ROMANTIC DRAMA FILM Monday, March 16th. Katherine Denton presents: Rust and Bone (2012). "De rouille et d’os" is a frech film directed by Jacques Audiard. Richard Vela presents: “La Ley De Herodes” (2000), a political satire directed by Luis Estrada. When the ruling political party needs a new mayor for the little village of San Pedro de los Saguaros, they pick Juan Vargas, a sleepy junkyard operator who wants to deliver the “modernity and social justice” that the party slogan promises. Then he begins to understand that the system really works according to Herod’s Law – “Do unto others before they do unto you!” When Vargas bribes, blackmails, and even kills to stay in power, his corrupt ways are not only tolerated at the end but rewarded by a seat in Congress.
