Program Information
CLASS BEGINS:
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This college credit certificate program is offered for the student who wishes to complete the core curriculum and be eligible for certification by the State of Florida to practice as a paramedic.
Paramedics are trained to provide advanced life support in medical and trauma related emergencies. The course content includes lecture, skills lab and hospital/fire rescue rotations as outlined in the core requirements of the
Emergency Medical Services A.S. degree program. Students MUST have Internet access .
PROGRAM LENGTH: 42 College Credits; Approximately 1,100 hours; 3 semesters (excluding college observed holidays)

Clinical rotations include a combination of Hospital
Facility and Fire Rescue field experience (** Fire Rescue starts at 7:30 am and Hospital starts at 8:30 am ). Further details of the schedule will be explained at the mandatory orientation .

Fees include web component access, lab materials, and certificates (BLS, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS), Access fee which includes parking decal, Medical Accident Insurance and Liability Insurance assessed each Fall semester.
Typhon (online skills tracking) one-time fee paid by student.
*Does not include textbooks, uniforms, and pre-screening costs (drug screening, med exam & criminal background).
FINANCIAL AID: http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/financialaid is available for this program and it is recommended that you apply early. A FASFA form is required http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ . In addition, there are a limited number of scholarships through the Palm Beach State College Foundation http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/foundation .

PARAMEDIC APPLICATION – SPRING 2016 – DEADLINE: November 20, 2015
The following are required for eligibility in the selection pool. Meeting criteria for selection does not guarantee admission to the Paramedic program. Final selection will be based on the applicant pool. If a student is selected and does not enter the program, or is not selected, the student must reapply and is not guaranteed acceptance in any subsequent selection process. ALL documentation MUST be on file at Palm Beach State
ADMISSIONS Office, Lake Worth, by November 20, 2015.
APPLICATION
First-time Palm Beach State College Students: Submit a completed Palm Beach State general credit application at http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/admissions and pay the appropriate fee by the deadline date. New students will be assessed a $40 nonrefundable fee. International (F-1/M-1) students will be assessed a $75 nonrefundable application fee. Be sure to insert your current and active email address where requested; is specific regarding your program of study. Once submitted, a confirmation page with conditions of admission will be sent to the e-mail address provided in the college application. Print the confirmation page and follow the instructions within. Applicants must also submit the program application contained in this packet and submit to the Admissions office.
Non first-time Palm Beach State College Students: Must complete the program application in this packet and submit to the Admissions office.
ACADEMIC HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED
Official transcripts must be submitted to the Admissions Office proving a standard high school diploma, GED, or validated foreign equivalent. Transcripts are considered official if sent directly to Palm Beach State College from the previous institution or are handdelivered in a sealed envelope sealed by the issuing institution All applicants – new, current, and college transfer students - must have their official high school or GED transcript on file at the college. EMT CERTIFICATE
Copy of current FLORIDA EMT (not NREMT) certificate MUST be submitted with the Paramedic application .
Students who are currently awaiting EMT Test Results will only be considered if there are vacancies after Florida certified
EMT’s have been accepted. **Subject to State Statute changes.**
American Heart Association CPR CERTIFICATION
All applicants MUST provide a copy of a current BLS for Healthcare Provider card with your application. Courses are available at the college by registering online at http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/CCE/health/health-courses.aspx

0123) or call the Continuing Education office at (561) 868-3775. CPR will be re-achieved during EMS2620C Paramedic I.
COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS
Official college transcripts ( transcripts are considered official if sent directly to Palm Beach State College from the previous institution or are hand-delivered in a sealed envelope sealed by the issuing institution) from ALL post-secondary institutions attended must be submitted. You may download the transcript request form from our website at http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/admissions/transcript-request.aspx
. All post-secondary records from out of the country must be submitted with a commercial evaluation. If you have attended college, we still require proof of a standard high school diploma, GED or validated foreign equivalent. Commercial evaluation of foreign transcripts must be conducted by approved evaluators listed at http://www.palmbeachstate.edu/admissions/transcript-request.aspx

I/O SOLUTIONS PLACEMENT TEST (NFSI)
Applicants must take the I/O Solutions National Firefighter Selection Inventory (NFSI), within two years of the application deadline date and score at least a 75% grade competency level in order to be eligible for consideration for selection. In order to take the test applicants must pay the cashier $45.00 and report to the College Testing Center , Lake Worth
Campus (561-868-3012), with their photo ID to arrange to take the exam. Additional NFSI information may be located at www.publicsafetyrecruitment.com
. Study guides may be purchased at the College Lake Worth bookstore. Exemptions : Students with an A.A., A.S., A.A.S. or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; or students who have already met the minimum cut scores, within the past two years, on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT), SAT1 or ACT-E are exempt from the exam.
