December 2015 * Vol. 67 No. 12 Shane Salyer, 2015 President We are on the verge of closing out another year! We had great successes on each of our events and I want to thank all those that had a hand in each. From the Home & Garden Show, to the Parade of Homes, to the Fall Tour of Homes, it takes many people to coordinate these events. Starting with the chairmen, all those that served on committees, and to those that volunteered to work, your efforts are greatly appreciated! Additionally, thanks to everyone that has helped give back to our community through generous giving to the Homes for Heroes project and the Auxiliary this year. Please make plans to attend our Annual Installation Banquet, which will be on December 4th at the Lubbock Country Club. We are looking forward to our new leadership… Jordan Wheatley President, Mitchell Anderson – Vice President and Dan Wilson – Secretary/Treasurer and all of our newly elected Directors. The groundbreaking for our new building is going to be on December 15th at 11:00 am. The weather is going to be great, so please try to make it out. If you’re not familiar with our new location yet, it’s at the intersection of 72nd and Kewanee (just east of Milwaukee, next to Zack’s Club). This is a very exciting time, considering how long we have been discussing, planning and coordinating this project. I especially want to thank Jordan Wheatley, who has spearheaded this project and has done a fabulous job. Along with Jordan, I would also like to recognize the efforts of David Miller, Robert Wood and Mike Becknal. These men have teamed up, volunteering their time and knowledge, to be the lead builders. This is a tremendous commitment! They have already invested a significant amount of effort, just to get us to this point. I want to thank Brand Source - Radio Lab for their cash and in-kind donation to our All In Capital Campaign totaling $62,489 for the naming rights of the new kitchen! Thanks to everyone that has donated so far. Our fundraising campaign will continue throughout the building process, so if you haven’t contributed yet, there is still time! It has been a tremendous honor to serve as the President of this Association! I would like to thank everyone for your continued support of our Association and look forward to our continued success in years to come. 2015 & 2016 Calendar of Events Page 2 December UPCOMING EVENTS Membership Noon Luncheon Date: Wednesday, December 9, 2015 Time: Noon—Lunch Catered by Chopped and Sliced Custom Catering Location: Scottish Rite Building, 1101 70th Street (SE from Lowrey Field) Price: RSVP: West Texas Home Builders Association 4223 85th Street Lubbock, Texas 79423 (806) 798-1616 FAX (806) 798-2032 www.wthba.com WTHBA Office Staff Gena Godinez—Executive Officer Amy Harbin—Executive Assistant DeAnn Sheehan—Administrative Asst. 2015 WTHBA Officers President - Shane Salyer Vice President - Jordan Wheatley Secretary/Treasurer - Mitchell Anderson Trey Strong 2015 WTHBA Board of Directors Drew Anderson Cody Craig Zelda Cuevas David Frisbie Steve Hill John Johnson James Jordan Myndee Pool Craig Ray Kevin Reed Jeff Sweat John Sweeney Dan Wilson Robert Wood 2015 Committee Chairs Robin Henson —Parade of Homes Committee Chairman Myndee Pool—Home & Garden Committee Chairman Alex Martinez —Golf Day chair Sharon Arthur—Developers Council Carol Mize—Lonestar Ambassadors Wayne Ware—Membership Committee David Miller—HOMEPAC Golf Cody Craig—Fall Tour of Homes Robert Wood—Program Chair Jordan Wheatley—Liaison Committee 2015 WTHB Auxiliary President, Zelda Cuevas Vice President, Lori Martin Past President—Hilary Martinez $15.00 By 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 (WTHBA office @ 798-1616) Program: Charles Perry Moonlight Musicals will be singing Christmas Carols to put you in the Holiday Spirit! It’s been a great year and we have accomplished so many great things. We started the year off with our Annual Cook Off which was a huge success. A special thanks goes out to Julie McMahan and her committee for a wonderful event and an awesome new location. Our scholarship committee, headed up by Lacie Walton, gave out a record 30 scholarship awards to our member’s children. Thank you Lacie, for you and your committees tireless efforts with this!! We started a new tradition this year with our Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship recipient, chosen by the Auxiliary President, was awarded to a student that was in desperate need of our organization’s help in order to be able to attend college. Lastly, our Annual Silent Auction exceeded our expectations and raised thousands of dollars for future scholarships and community service projects. Kudos to Melissa Anderson, Joanie Coles and their committee for putting on a class act for the Silent Auction. Once again, THANK YOU for allowing me to be your President this year. I know that the incoming President, Lori Martin, will lead this group to great heights MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!! December Auxiliary Member Spotlight Congratulations to Lori Martin who is our member spotlight for December. Lori is the owner of Consider it Done. Lori has three children and two granddaughters!!
