ADMISSIONS
Requirements
Graduation from secondary school required; GED accepted. General college-preparatory program required. 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics, 2 units of foreign language, 2 units of social studies, and 4 units of
academic electives recommended. Minimum 2.0 GPA required. Conditional admission for applicants not normally admissible. SAT Reasoning
or ACT required. No policy for SAT or ACT writing component. Campus
visit recommended. Admission may be deferred up to one year. Application fee $40 (may be waived in cases of financial need), nonrefundable.
Basis for Candidate Selection
Academic:
Secondary school record and standardized test scores
very important. Essay important. Class rank and recommendations considered.
Non-academic: Extracurricular activities, particular talent/ability, character/personal qualities, alumni/ae relationship, and religious affiliation/commitment considered.
Admissions Procedure
Normal sequence: Notification of admission is sent on a rolling basis.
Freshmen may enter in terms other than fall. Admissions process is
need-blind.
Special programs: Early admission program.
Transfers: Transfer students are accepted. Application deadline is June 30
for fall; January 1 for spring. Secondary school transcript, college transcript, essay or personal statement, and statement of good standing from
prior institutions required. Minimum 2.0 college GPA required. Lowest
course grade accepted is “C.” Unlimited number of semester hours may be
transferred; students pursuing an associate degree may use a maximum of
45 semester hours; students pursing a bachelor’s degree may use a maximum of 90 semester hours.
Learning Disabled Students: Diagnostic test required. Support services
available. Untimed standardized tests accepted. Lowest grade average accepted is “C.” Credit toward degree may be granted for remedial courses.
Additional time to complete degree permitted.
Placement Options: Credit and placement may be granted for CLEP general exams, CLEP subject exams, DANTES exams, challenge exams,
military experience, life experience, and International Baccalaureate.

15 semester hours of religion/theology required. Core curriculum required. Every student is required to take a computer course. Freshmen
must maintain minimum 1.5 GPA; sophomores, 1.65 GPA; juniors, 1.85
GPA; seniors, 2.0 GPA.

GENERAL
Housing
All unmarried students under age 21 must live on campus unless living
with family. Women’s and men’s dormitories; student apartments; disabled student and single-gender housing. 60% of all undergraduates live
in school-owned/-operated/-affiliated housing.
Regulations and Policies
Alcohol prohibited on campus. Class attendance mandatory. Dress/hair
code. Honor code. Hazing and smoking prohibited. Limited public displays of affection. Attendance is mandatory for chapel three days per
week and at weekly hall meetings. All students may have cars on campus;
65% of students have cars.
Environment/Transportation
6,819-acre campus in Lynchburg (population: 77,113), 50 miles from
Roanoke. Served by air, bus, and train; larger airport serves Richmond
(120 miles). Public transportation serves campus.
