KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
 To coordinate Northcott’s volunteer program that supports staff, clients, volunteer, students and
the organisation to maximise service delivery.
 To coordinate or work on HR related projects that support department and organisational
requirements.

 Sound degree of judgement, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity
 Excellent computer skills
 Sound communication, organisation and time management skills
 Excellent customer service skills to manage stakeholders effectively

Position Description





The ability to work collaboratively with managers to manage their volunteer needs
Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision within a team environment
Good writing skills
Understanding of National Volunteer Standards
WHS understanding
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
 Experience in volunteer or staff coordination
 Possession or progression towards a relevant Human Resource or Volunteer coordination
qualification (desirable)
 Experience working in the Not For Profit sector (desirable)

DUTIES
The typical duties of this position include:
VOLUNTEERS
 Coordinate the volunteer program in accordance to best practice standards as developed by
Volunteering Australia.
 Develop, maintain or review any policies and procedures affecting volunteers and student
placements.
 Provide services with support and guidance in engaging and managing volunteers.
 Work closely with staff to plan for volunteer recruitment for events/functions/fundraising initiatives.
 Advertise volunteer opportunities, review and refer applications to appropriate services and
departments; process volunteer application and probity paperwork.

Position Description








Manage email, telephone and walk in enquiries about volunteering opportunities.
Manage the volunteer database (Volgistics) and develop, prepare and present reports to
management staff, recommend necessary changes or adjustments to the volunteer program.
Arrange for volunteers to receive appropriate orientation and access to relevant training. Ensure
all volunteers have adequate Northcott WH&S and disability awareness instruction.
Serve as liaison between HR, Staff, Volunteers and external organisations in relation to
volunteering.
Develop & provide written correspondence to volunteers.
Schedule & coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events.
Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of volunteer services.
Regularly seek opportunities to promote volunteering to internal and external stakeholders.
STUDENTS
 Manage email and telephone enquiries from students, RTO’s and schools and refer suitable to
appropriate services and opportunities.
 Maintain Student Placement paperwork and update the student database to track & report on
student involvement across Northcott programs.
HR PROJECTS
 Manage the Employee of the Month program ; promote, coordinate applications, chair panel
meetings and distribute information about the program.
 Coordinate the Employee of the Year and Volunteer of the Year process - annually
 Contribute and update intranet and website content for Volunteers/Students, Employee
Recognition and Staff Benefits sections.
 Other projects as they arise to support strategic direction of Northcott e.g. Disability Employment
Strategy and Aboriginal Employment Strategy.
