STATEMENT ADDRESSING KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Excellent administrative, organisational and research skills with the ability to follow through and exercise
independent judgement. Ability to prioritise to obtain satisfactory outcomes.
Having worked in administrative assistance roles for 10+ years, I have superior capabilities in multi-tasking several
valuable functions with ease, including conducting extensive research and remaining highly organised. I
consistently exercise independent judgement and work effectively autonomously, prioritising my work to remain
in line with strict regulations, desired outcomes and organisational values.
My vast expertise in performing multifaceted functions and completing complex tasks goes beyond the norm of
usual administrative assistance. Having designed financial policies, created necessary new documents and
templates and reported essential data, I play an essential role in directing smooth operations and service
delivery. In my current role as Consular Officer, I was instrumental in the successful web page re-design following
my discovery that over half of telephone enquiries were regarding passports and visas. As a direct result of the
web page re-design, these enquires were reduced by 90% due to the more comprehensive information that
provided greater clarity.
My event management tasks have required me to demonstrate broad researching expertise and organisational
skills, in order to source appropriate venues, catering and entertainment whilst seamlessly coordinating event
operations. These strengths have enabled me to deliver several successful events, including a networking cocktail
evening for Health E Nation and a black tie dinner for Waitangi Day celebrations.
Furthermore, during my time at XXX Airlines I implemented my superior organisational skills to design and execute a
strategic scheduling plan to manage a demanding period of excessive work-loads. By introducing these new scheduling
procedures for the General Manager, I eased his stresses and maximised his productivity. I briefed all involved
departments, ensuring that the procedure was strictly followed to maximise value and assist the General Manager to
effectively get through this demanding time.
Leveraging my skills in multi-tasking, prioritising, time management, researching and exercising independent
judgement leads to great success in all of my work. Competent in achieving goals through difficult circumstances,
I am in good stead to provide exceptional administrative assistance to XXX International.

2. Demonstrated high level communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to liaise with people at a number
of levels and to foster internal and external client relationships.
Adept at communicating to multi-tiered internal and external stakeholders via verbal and written approaches, I
consistently build quality relationships to cultivate collaborative work practices and meet organisational
objectives. At both the New Zealand Consulate and Singapore Airlines I have acted as the first point of contact for
clients, both via telephone and face-to-face. In both roles, it has been imperative to correctly identify and
therefore address customer queries, concerns and complaints, and I have often been required to go above and
beyond the usual functions of my role to provide adequate assistance and resolve major issues.
Whilst working for the XXX Consulate, I was presented with an issue regarding the son of the Panamanian
President, occurring on a Sunday morning when I was not in the office. I was alerted to the situation by the XXX,
who explained that the client had been denied travel to XXX via Melbourne due to a problem with his visa. So
that valuable time could be saved, I contacted the Head of Immigration in Auckland directly to achieve rapid
action. My quick thinking and strong relationship with the Head of Immigration were instrumental in solving the
problem and preventing a Diplomatic Incident.
Possessing a vast network of contacts has proven invaluable, and I regularly collaborate with the Department of
Foreign Affairs to facilitate the XXX General, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers and accompanying staff when
travelling to Australia. Recently, I had the opportunity to escort the Minister for Internal Affairs, his Senior Private
Secretary, the Senior Policy Advisor and the Acting CEO of XXX Fire through a visit to Bright, Victoria after an
immense bushfire emergency. This was to engage and thank the 44 XXX Fire-fighters that assisted the Victorian
Department of Sustainability and Environment through this time. Managing a strict and eventful program, I was
praised for my work and have formed long-term relationships with all involved, high-calibre parties.
Dedicated to fostering a collaborative team environment and building strong relationships with all levels of
internal and external stakeholders, I have developed paramount communications skills in both written and verbal
contexts. Having the ability to communicate with customers, colleagues and highly regarded individuals ensures
that I am well equipped to thrive in the role of Administration Assistant.

3. Ability to work under tight timeframes and work independently with minimal supervision whilst using a high level
of discretion.
Having performed in roles that deal with sensitive issues on an international scale, I am well-practiced in meeting
tight deadlines and employing extreme discretion.
In my current role as Executive Assistant to the Consul-General at the XXX Consulate, I am the only staff member
with access to the Consul-General diary and consistently maintain confidentiality regarding the delicate nature of
this information. Additionally, many meetings and appointments are required to be added, changed or removed
with little time available for managing these modifications.
Furthermore, I commenced this position with little supervision and training due to the nature of this highpressured and fast-paced environment. On my second day of employment, I was challenged with assisting a
family who had lost a member in a tragic accident and required expeditious return to XXX as per cultural funeral
practices. As a result of my invaluable career experience, pro-active initiative and ability to exercise independent
judgement, I was able to fulfil the needs of this family.
With well-honed skills gained in a role where a sensitive enquiry or pressing problem may need to be dealt with
and solved immediately, I am well-versed in using my initiative and acting rapidly to meet strict timeframes. The
value of my recent experience demonstrates my worth as an Administrative Assistant and I would be an asset to
XXX International.
